Hey guys

Just wanted to know of anyone has sold a car to someone over seas?
Just wanted to know if there's anything different I need to do with the log book or is it the same as selling it here?

Dude from France wants to take my car in two weeks so fingers crossed I can get an evo then :D

Nice one. All you need to do is either fill in the yellow section (trade bit) on the v5 to cover yourself for fines etc. You can also fill in the permanent export section 11 if you wanted at the bottom of the second page, under the green slip (section 10)

Try get him to leave a deposit :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Sounds simple enough then! He did mention he want to leave a deposit, apparently his car is being collected this weekend and he wants mine the next.
May have a job trying to explain anything to him because his English isn't the best lol!

Check out his first message from last week lol -

Hello I am French I am currently looking for an integra UKDM and your perfect really seems to me I'd like to come and get faster, I love the book and you pay a deposit.

At this stage I was hoping he was taking about the car.....

lol, thought for a second he's a bit like the fag squad! lol

with a deposit is a little safer because you don't want to be turning any other potential buyer away for this guy not to turn up!

I think he could be using a translator. They are quite sh**

Lol! European gigalo! That's a fair point, iv basically told him to message me when his car is gone and we can take it from there, he's going to have a fair trip though if he's coming from Dover crossing because I live in Swansea lol!

I had a guy fly out from Germany a few years ago and drove all the way back! Think it took him 16 hours from near Leeds

Hi there,
I'm from Luxembourg (contl europe) and I've done 4 of these road trips, 2x Evo V, 1x Evo IV and a Skyline R32 GTR. Everytime it was like a +1000mile trip. But we've enjoyed it every time. When buying the first car in the UK we had a bit of trouble to register ist afterwards, so here is how it goes:
You need to fill the permanent exportation bit, keep it and send it to the DVLA, the new owner needs the complete remaining bit of the V5 to register it in his country.
Had some sellers that really didn't trust european buyers too much ;) Every time I paid a 250-350£ deposit via paypal and paid the rest cash the moment I collected the car. Had to stay overnight with one evo to get the money checked by his bank, lol, all the others had marker pens to check the notes.

Just sayin, for a decent LHD Evo 6 you're paying like 16-20k € in germany. In the UK it's about half that price. That's why people come over to get these cars. And lots of DC5's, early Evo's, Skylines,... weren't even available in the rest of europe

Yeah, my mate bought it. Was a fair deal. A bit of work on the car like undersealing and AYC repair, but a good solid car none the less. And the price was OK too.
Thanks again for inspecting the car for us ;)
With a bit of luck the car is registered today. Changed the headlights, mounted a cat,...

Trying to find some history of the car is a bit hard though. Got lots of reciepts of a certain Daniel Rimmer, but he isn't known on any Forum :(

Sounds like most of the imports in your country are thanks to you're hard work :p thanks for the information there :) to be honest I was thinking of getting the bank to check the notes but not because he's foreign lol! Many people in the UK would likely try and pull a fast one so I'd get them checked any way haha

Sounds like a few quality road trips you had though! Good on you!

Yeah was a nice car. I do miss it a lot. Only sold as it would cost too much too mot and put right. Needed arms etc. that control toe, caster etc. Only bushes needed replacing but dealers only sold complete and most used bits had same issue :(

He defo got a cheap car that took out supercars! lol

As Nomuken has pout it, they're expensive in Europe. I wouldn't mind the steering wheel on the wrong side either if it saves you atleast half price on a car.

That's fair enough though, if it's going to cost an arm to sort then most would let it go. Sounds like it was a weapon then :D yeah fair point I'd drive a lefty for half price!

It was a weapon and the best bit was no oone knew what it was capable of. Wish I got the bits and put through mot but might go for another in the future.

They're on my laptop, but the keyboard is stuffed. Trying to get a new one for it. Can't do anything without it going mental. Guy promised me 2 months ago he's ordered one. Nothing yet! :(
