Hi everyone

After 11 years of driving VW's, owning 6 Corrado in my life, audi S3, 2.7T etc finally moving into evo.

Unfortunately due to insurance costs need to wait till next year when I can insure EVO 5 as a classic car.

Currently in a process of selling my Corrado VR6 Turbo project and collection money to buy EVO 5 right after new year, 7 months to go, can't wait

Will be looking for black or silver evo 5, so if anybody decide to sell one in January, give me a shout, please

Are you sure about the insurance as a classic car, i thought they had done away with that now

Just so you know the v5 for most imports will only say lancer on them so can be insured as a gl if your that kind of guy :whistling:

I did contact my classic insurance where my corrado is insured and they said that any car which is 15 years or more old can be insured with them. They quoted me around 450 quid for evo 4 so believe price for evo 5 will be roughly same.

Yeah i insure mine for what it is but i have done that in the past.

Thats interesting ill have to look into that. Im still £900 a year for my 6.

I wouldn't mind to pay 900 quid a year but cheapest I found was double than that. It only cost me 210 pounds to insure Corrado VR6 as a classic.

Try to contact Footman James. Car must be at least 15 years old, must be garaged but sometimes they accept driveway and of course limited mileage.

yes, you have to do this via classic insurance policy, they are usually cheap but there is many restrictions. I was able to insure my corrado vr6 for 210 pounds instead of 650 for normal insurance but when I asked them about insuring vr6 turbo they said no. They accept modifications but not drastic ones. I believe if you change small turbo on bigger on you still fine but if you swap4 cylinder engine for V6 or add turbo to N/A engine they won't insure you.

I see you are only 20 years old and you have to be at least 25 in Footman James Insurance

Some classic insurers do accept drastic mods. My 1963 beetle went from a 1200 single port to a 2110 race engine (40bhp to 180bhp) and I got insured despite all manner of other tweaks
