Hi, someone near me is selling a so called uk evo6 tommi makk car on a 51 plate, they say its a uk car but the fog light is built into the back bumper and it has square number plates, they say its number 193 uk. is there any way of checking if its defo a uki car, also what would you say its worth, its got 31k on it , fsh, they have had it for 8 years, one previous owner, in white. thanks

UK cars have the rear foglight cut into the rear bumper. The square rear plate is JDM but could have been changed easily.
It should have a little badge with the number on it on the centre console behind the gearstick, although they seem to come off easily.
The car number should also be on the front cover of the service book, and I'd hope if it's a genuine UK car it should have a FSH and original bill of sale.
Also should have a rear wiper as standard although I think some imports had it as an option.
Cobra Elite 3 Cat-1 alarm factory fit on the UK car but again, can be changed/fitted later

Fog light built into the bumper is a sign of being a uk car, jap ones normally have it bolted to the bottom of the bumper.

Also check the warning/info stickers around the car, are they written in English? There are some on the passenger visor I think.

Owners manual, English?

Rear fog light switch is on the same switch as front fogs on a uk model I think.

Should have a plaque by the gearstick aswell.

Not sure on price mate, but I'd buy on condition and history etc rather than UK/JDM
If it's a UK I'd expect a full history, BUT, have a really good prod around underneath, especially chassis rails etc as it will have seen over a decade of our winters and crap salted roads

Price wise is hard to gauge at the min. Prices seem to vary massively, red tme's command a premium over any other colour. Mods are obviously a big factor, milage, condition, service history are all gonna affect the price, but as said above I wouldn't be worried if it's jdm or uk.

 I'd have said double that for a Mak with such low mileage. £9k if she desparately wanted rid quickly

Good luck with it

Make sure you check the ayc light comes on when you switch the ignition on then goes out, drive the car for a bit and make sure it doesn't come on again.

As already said check underneath for rust, a lot of horror stories coming through about older evos

Also put full right lock on and turn slowly in a circle, if you hear knocking it could indicate the transfer bolts need replacing.

Other than that it's the usual checks you would make on any car.

Keep us informed

As above really. Mine has a build number by the gearstick but I know it's an import as it was registered in uk late 2002 but thought to be a 2001

My foglights are in the boot lid but not with original wiring

Check chassis number, if it's a real mak then it will begin 020 if not then its not a mak.

well i bought the evo today, ive had it confirmed as a 2001 evo tommi mak, the ayc light came on but goes off when you start the car back up, im hoping its just a sensor, but for 5k im not complaining. :)

well ive been driving the evo around the last day, and noticed that the ayc light comes on after a while, ive taken it to have it plugged in and it came up with code 82 or 83 cant remember for sure, anyway it says pump2 failure, does this mean that the ayc is knackered or could it need a service or a new pressure switch, is there any way of testing the pump itself ??
