ignition coil setup differences

Hi,
I realised there are different ignitions on different EVO's.
A) Mostly I see this kind of coil on plug spark setup where 2 coils sit directly on the spark plugs:

B) And the there is this system with the ignition coils behind the engine and 4 spark plug leads like on my Evo 5:

What is the difference? Is there something like a general rule like Version A) for E7-9 and Version B) for E4-6? Or how can they be classified?...
Would be cool if someone could explain this to me.

Thats different. Never seen a setup like yours before.

it is very possible some one has wired up some wasted spark coils , like fiat punto ones for example ??

or even some high power aftermarket ones ????

so they can run the 4 leads to the plugs and the leads look quite special to :O)

its a interesting mod thats gonna get a lot of people thinking :O)

Found the answer some time ago, this is a system sold by SUN (Japan) or Nology (US) using the standard Evo coils. It just relocates them an uses 4 leads, so that the coils aren't esposed to the engine heat and therefore last longer, work better,... Leads have a capacitor build in that accumulates the power and releases it in a shorter more powerful way to the plug for a stronger ignition spark

Seen this set up on a Evo at jap fest. Was with my tuner at the time and he said he seen them on mlr before
