Achieving the impossible (non evo)

So after my epic fail a few months ago of trying to find an economical car on ebay and ending up with a skyline (ebay should have an addiction warning) i decided it was time to try again. I went to look at a couple of diesel golfs and a vectra but theyre a bit too "normal" for my liking. After some general searching ive ended up just getting this

So i hope i am somewhere close to the near impossible of finding reasonably quick, quite economical, hopefully reliable while still being different and fun.

Anyone have any experience with these? Its almost standard at the moment but seems quite easy to get near 200bhp and 40+mpg should be achievable.

Brilliant car I've had 2, still got a few parts kicking around. Never had any major issues with mine
Cheap to run but very easy to modify and great fun wish I still had mine

Sounds like i should be on to a winner then. What sort of power were you both running in them? Its fairly quick but could definatly do with a bit more go.
Im already carefull in the wet from driving the skyline aps so, touch wood, should be ok.

Haha, maybe "touch wood" wasnt the best phrase to use. Lol. Ive heard a few stories like this, i will have to try not to get too carried away with it.

I had mine over 3 years loved it, it had decat, stainless steel hks exhaust, uprated evo intercooler apexi induction kit d2 coilivers so handled really well.
Ended up spliting it for parts when I got evo because I couldn't bear anyone else driving it,
