Engine stall - poss BOV issue ?

Hi there,

i have an Evo Vii but it has been converted with an evo 8 mr360 engine.

Recently fitted a decat pipe which has caused the managment light to remain on, but was told that was common and not yet actually looked into how to reslove that yet.
However I also fitted a Turbo Smart BOV and ever since then I'm finding the car stalls on occasions.
Now someone told me a T/S BOV was only good if your car was in the 500bhp regions which obviously mine is not.. and that this was the reason for the stalling ?
Can any members please enlighten me regards that fact and also if there is a better BOV to be reccomended.

Cheers in advance

the engine light will be the second lambda throughing an error as the cats been removed.

the bov can cause stalling, most fit a recirc you could try and adjust the base idle a little too, but its probs something you'll have to live with it.

where are you based?

Have you tried fitting the standard one back in, that would tell you for definate if that is the cause of your problem.
Is it fitted correctly?
I had an adjustable t/s bov on a relatively standard impreza with no issues, cant see it only being for a 500bhp +

Doesn't matter what make of BOV, it depends wether it's a vta or not...
A vta BOV normally incurs stalling issues when breaking/slowing hard. Because it dumps all your air to atmosphere causing you to stall.
Some can be adjusted so they don't vta so much or you can blank it off or fit a recirc. A common solution is to fit a dual BOV. Recirc at low and vta at high....

Have you adjusted the hard/ softness of the BOV when I got my t/s it will screwed in to hard quite a way had to loosen it off and now it's fine. Try turning the top of the BOV to soft but do not go past the red line.

Thankyou very much guys for the information, suggestions and thoughts on how to resolve this.. Its really appreciated, especially considering it was my first post too.

Will let you know what we try and what is successful in the end..although now thinking the car could probably do with been remapped anyway.. We are based in Sussex so any reccomendations on a decent mapper than doesnt want silly money would also be appreciated :)

To help a bit more can you confirm the following:

Is it an Evo 8 engine?
Are you using your original wiring loom?
Are you using the Evo 7 ECU?

The stalling issues are BOV related, you'll need to get a re-circ or a dual port to resolve it.
