Service Parts & Labour Charges

Hi All,
After having received numerous PM's from many members regarding the heading, I have decided to start this thread to see what you are all paying, are expecting to pay or have just paid out on service parts and labour so that I can get some thing arranged with the network of Garages that I have regular contact with up and down our Great Nation and see if there are savings to be made for all of you in the process.

I am 100% certain that my place is the cheapest in the UK and have only come across the odd Specialist that had a thing or two to teach me but that was only in relation to diagnostic software and tooling.

I have come across several Garages that were cheaper and still maybe cheaper then me but have had to laugh at their techniques of getting the job done as a monkey with a mallet could do just what they do for peanuts and might well even do a better job in the process

Having received a reply from Laner 1965 today in which he informed me that he paid £80 for spark plugs, I must say that I have been tipped over the edge

If I could get my hands on the guy who did that to him I would ...................

The guy I use is called si,he owns yvs in sherburn in elmet in yorkshire,he knows his stuff but he admits he doesn't no everything as he isn't an evo specialist,prob more an mr2 expert as he's running a 650 bhp mk2 mr2.over the past 4yrs of knowing and using him he hasn't put a foot wrong though,the last time I went to him was for a full service,£110 cash,(I always pay cash),my prob is i find it hard to trust ppl,especialy wen it comes to my car,there's only 3ppl that have touched mine, that's me,the guy in sherburn n el,no one else will ever touch it. My guy quoted me for some spark plugs,these we're also £80 but he wasn't trying to rip me off,if I remember right there irridium plugs n he double checked wot to use on mine n even showed me the price list in the book,even he agreed they were a bit much n we left em as I said id seen some on she bay for 26 quid inc p+p. I would rate el and my guy 10 out of 10 each.

You can get plugs for way cheaper then egay!

What was done? genuine mitsi clutch kit, waxoil, mud/inner arch shields front, gearbox syn oil, fit 4 mudflaps.

What was the total? £694
Who supplied the parts? garage apart from mudflaps.

What town was the Garage in? the sticks shropshire.

Any Horror stories? no not yet.....

How would you rate them from 1-10? 8 good but can never get hold of the bugger!

What service is due next? fit evo8 engine, evo6 ecu, walbro255 fuel pump, oil catch tank, turbo back exhaust.

When is it due? in progress

What was done - Recon 6 Engine and recon gear box replaced

What was the total - £2645 + VAT (all together including labour)

Who supplied the parts - Need a part uk ltd

What town was the Garage in - Oldham Nr Manchester

Any Horror stories? - Not yet, apart from invoice said 'Supplied and fitted engine and gear box, no mention of the engine being a 6', just waited for a revised invoice!! Also was told I was going to get a valet and didn't, but I wasn't expecting that, so not to bothered.

How would you rate them from 1-10? 9 out of 10

What service is due next? 500 mile - Oil and filter mainly and a few engine checks.

When is it due? 08.09.10
