Had a similar thing today. But no bang. Just white 'smoke' front and back.

Really heavy rainfall here just now and on smelling the 'smoke' it wasn't smoke, just hot water vapour (steam) from lying water on the exhaust manifold just underneath the bonnet vent and I assume the same from water ingress into the tailpipe.

Can only assume this as on start-up - the exhaust is stinkin' of unburnt petrol - partaining to a way too high rich mixture :D This is why I think the HKS induction kit and the remap are so effective.

Suck more air in - suck more fuel in - bigger bang in the cylinders and approx 25% more power. :D:D

white smoke from exhaust is normaly water i.e head gasket. is the engine running at normal temp? or has the car been driven through water that has soaked the air filter.
