What does it take to keep up with the CBA R35 GTR?

hey all...

as the title says...or even better, to beat it. im talking about street driving. not drag or track racing. the intention is for the Evo to be driven everyday with a godzilla aura.

while keeping the car street legal, all panels and interior trims still in place. im thinking about sticking with bolt on mods with Tomei/Brian Crower/Cosworth 2.2L internals.

has it been done? if it has been done, please share. cos i wanna play around with my mate's R35 GTR too. and another annoying R8 driver who keeps flexing his muscles on the street by taking on my modded Honda buddies.

what spec is ur evo? and what spec is the r35 gtr?

it takes pure balls mate, if your on standard power, and it depends what kind of roads

foxy lady - luckily for me, my mate's R35 is still bone stock. and my car right now is running 340hp @1.3bar and 363hp @1.5bar, stock turbo,full exhaust upgrade,HKS airfilter. slotted brakes,BC coilovers,BS adrenaline tyres.

fq-craigus - i know i cant win on straight line highways... so its mostly short burst straights and "touge" spec country side winding roads.

Your looking at 500bhp+ with an excellent handling setup

Forged stroker 2.3ltr with uprated turbo, gt30 maybe and 272 cams maybe 282 cams
Top spec suspension and uprated brakes

the gtr's are 500bhp standard with hardly any lag cos it has a v6 lump in it, so for you to keep up with him strip ur car to just 2 seats (still street legal) and keep it at 1.5 bar, make sure ur car is warm and has high octane fuel 99 if u put in 97 get some octane booster, u will have a slight advantage doing it round twisty winding roads, cos they are heavier

Failing to do that get a bigger turbo and re map it lol

Wow... thanks for the replies,i really appreciate it. i've still got a long way to go... i'll just have to wait for engine/turbo wear and tear before putting in the toughened 2.3L internals + supporting mods.

how about the R8? do i stand a chance against it? 420hp and 430nm/317ftlb torque car. i really wanna have a go with this one R8.

r8's are a little weak if you ask me, although depends on the driver. i had a little play with one (obviously on the councils local track) and round all the twisties my ctr had him as i know the roads better when it came to long straights he pulled from me not too quick though, im thinking its will be quite even in a 300+ evo
