evening guys,

driving back from skankchester yesterday i noticed an annoying whistling noise coming from the car... driving again today i heard the same noise again.

it is only there when i am accelerating or holding at constant speed above 70ish.
from reading previous threads months ago, if i remember right, it could be the turbo??? i dont really have time atm to go trawling through old threads. :(

if this is the case will it do any other damage driving it around now?

cheers guys

Hi Mate,

I've had two turbo's go on me in my days – 1. on an Escort RS Turbo, gave no indication that anything was wrong and all of a sudden when driving it one day it just went, no boost at all – 2. Was on a Fiat Coupe 20 Valve Turbo, exactly the same thing happened on that as the RS turbo.

I’m no expert mate, but I have been driving turbo'd cars since I was 18. Plus I’m learning a lot about evo’s every day!

1. Have you got full power when boosting?
2. Have you got a boost gauge?
3. Have you checked all your pipes, coz if you are losing power it could be one of your pipes on the intake of turbo side or even, if you have a A.T.A. or re circ dump valve it could be this?

On the other hand, it may be nothing to do with the turbo at all, could be something else, but it does sound like a leak somewhere to me.

Let me know I may be able to help, however I'm sure the other guys will on the way with some friendly help too.

Cheers and Hi again if I haven't already Welcomed you to the forum - This is by far the best forum site out there without a doub, yeah there's a few guides and links on the dark side (You now who!)

Let me know mate and I'll do my best to help.

Cheers,

cheers for the help guys.

it doesnt feel any different when driving so a nick in a hose is probably the most logical answer. its just really started to piss me off today as i could seem to hear it no matter how fast i drove or how loud my music was!!

unfortunately i dont have a boost gauge so im not sure on that front either.

ill have a poke around during work tomorrow when i can see better!!

cheers guys.

Check all the hoses and give the engine some revs when inspecting, you might be able to pin point where the whistle is emanating from.

Keep us posted buddy!
