What actuator spring??

Got my car back from cams and remap the other day, very happy with results, made 370bhp/385lbft @ 1.3 bar. I wanted 1.5/1.6 bar like it used to run when I first bought it, but the tuner said it wouldn't hold that and its down to a worn actuator spring. The car had a forge actuator fitted when it was bought so dont know how old it is. anyway what colour spring do i need to be achieving 1.5/1.6 bar. Is there anything else that could be causing the issue. they checked the system for leaks and there are none. Anybody have the right spring for sale??
cheers nick

What turbo you running to hit 385@ 1.3??
Just fit a std actuator. Boost control will do the rest unless that is your only boost control!!

I have a gizmo boost controller, so could go standard but thought as the forge ones there might as well just get a new spring. That was a typo is 375lbft, standard turbo, HKS 272 cams and pulleys, Apexi 3" exhaust, Decat, tubular manifold, Walbro fuel pump, Gizmo boost contoller, remapped by Eurospec. I was really happy with the results, just want to get the boost back up then i should hopefully see 400bhp with a new intake and new intercooler pipes. The figures i quoted are all @ the flywheel as well btw.

So you have a boost controller and they say you can't push 1.5bar because of the actuator being weak!!
Try adjusting the bar to pull the turbo flap tighter. As I presume that's what they are saying is leaking.
Was that a virtual dyno or rr figures?
I can't see you getting those results on only 1.3bar, maybe 1.5.
You'll be lucky to get 400+ on std turbo @ 1.8 bar even with 272 cams

Rolling road i believe, ive got the graphs at home ill put them up tomorow. Which way do i adjust the bar? pushing further up (towrds bonnet) or down (towards floor). Sorry to be a newb, do all work on my cars myself and pretty mechanically minded, but am new to turbochargred applications, had N/A hot hatchs in the past.Yeah i have been told 400 will be a stretch on standard turbo, am waiting for an 80 series to come up at a resonable price.

Does anyone know the correct spring, for the sake of £15 ill try replacing that. Also could this issue be a tired turbo?

Down. It should been set so the flap is closed and the hole on bar is half a hole. If you get what I meen lol

Cant see a lot with it in situ. Guess its an actuator off jobby to have a good look? I take it the nut is just a lock nut, and you have to lossen that then whined the rod eye in? Also just noticed the rod eye is on what i guess is the wasgate shaft but has no retaining clip, looks like there is a recess for a circlip but its missing, is this correct?

Yes fella. Either small circlip or if there's a hole then an r clip. You should been able to see enough to check you only have a half hole setup. You then need to pull actuator bar to hook it back over.

No hole at all. I take it i should be able to see the half hole with the lock nut still in place, or does that need winding back and the half hole is under it? if you get what i mean.

While doing that i noticed a bit of soot on the arm that the actuator moves, could that be the seals gone on the wastegate shaft causing this issue?

This should been your forged actuator.
The hole on the end locates on the shaft. This should been set so the hole locates only half the shaft. So that you need to pull it to locate on the shaft

if this is what you mean then it is set correctly. so you dont think a new spring would help??? any other suggestion for whats causing this??

That's correct.
If they say there are no leaks but you can't hold 1.5 then surely there is a leak :what:

It may be a leak on exhaust side. The gases are bypassing the turbo. In which case the turbo could have been over spinning trying to reach the boost set.

hhhmmmm. Think this is going to take some more investigation. The soot on that arm is worrying , making me think there is a leak there? They seemed convinced it was the actuator spring and they are normally pretty good, but from what your saying it doesnt sound like that is it.
