Im just in the process of fitting front components in my IX and Ive hit a snag point where to put the tweeter ?

any one got any pics or ideas ?

I know I will need to check the positioning of the tweeter for the best sound but I was thinking in the door card by the door handle , I was hoping to keep it in the door as I'm told the tweeter needs to be a maximum distance of 12" from the woofer ???

Heres the place i was going to put it ................

the other option is the a-pillar but it seems to far away and may upset the sound stage in the car

Mine were at the bottom of the A pillar trims mate. In place of the originals so as not to spoil the view :)

Don't muller the door card mate for the sake of a tweeter. They are fine behind the A pillar trims cos that way they face each other and also the sound is then spread right across the windscreen so it I front of you at all times rather than just coming at you from 1 point :)

You not already got tweeters at bottom of A pillar trims ??

Simple to get the wires there. Just fit the crossovers behind the kick panels. Then trace the wire for the speaker back through the loom to where it comes through the door, through the pillar and into the cockpit. Simply cut them and join the part of the wire that leads to the speaker into the crossover and the other part of the speaker wire that's in the loom will be the feed from stereo to the crossover.
That way no hacking an no having to pull cables through the door shuts :) simples :)

Never mentioned tweeter in kick panel. You want the crossovers behind the kick panels. Tweeter behind A pillar trims with the wire dropping straight down the side of the dash to the crossover below. Then locate the wire that runs through the pillar through door shut then into the door. You'll probably need to unwrap some of the loom to get the speaker wires out. Cut the wire and join both parts to the crossover. This process just means you utilise the wire that already runs through the door shut instead of running new cable.

that sounds like a ball ache pal !

i was thinking crossover on door as its small so less wire to main component and then tweeter in a pillar or door ...if pillar run wires through the door shut and up into a pillar....tbh I'm looking for the easiest as well as cleanest way to do it mate

Jonny, don't you have the install in the A pillars? I've got Mitsi mounts for mine and they're perfect. The sound stage won't be affected at all. Rear speakers **** up stages.

Well what you just described sounds even worse. I you wanna put the crossover in the door then you'll need to protect it from moister and if you do put it in the door then you'll only save around a foot of cable, which you'll then have to add onto the tweeter.

And really mate, do you think that the human ear is that highly tuned that it can tell the difference between a speaker with a foot of cable on it compared to one that has 2 foot of cable on it. I didn't think so lol :)

I may still mount crossover in door not inside the door panel, inside the door card.

Ill have a look tomoz at how to get to kick plate etc and go from there

Not sure you'll find space to mount it between the door and the door card but then I don't know what crossovers you got.

So you failed to acknowledge that you know I'm right about the cable lengths :)

Jonny - as written, put the crossovers in the cab as they won't suffer with damp like most end up doing, run the cable to the door and the A pillar and get yourself some E9 pillars :D

For aesthetics (if thats how you spell it) get the E9 A pillars.

I know you like the clean lines so probably best.

Good luck. I look forward to your indicators coming on in time with the beats :sneaky:
