Hi Mark,
you really to start by checking all the pipe work from the intercooler to the turbo, the air box the solenoid the dump valve etc, i suspect that it may be the actuator that is sticking because if it was the pipe work then it would be regular and not eratic.

Check the pipe work and then get back to me and we can go over the suspect actuator problem step by step.

Checked all pipe work all ok> It blew the bottem turbo pipe off before and it would even run so the pipes are all ok,

the car is a evo 8 fq330 by the way?

Hi mate,
Have you checked the spark plugs?????? Take them out in order from drivers side to passenger side, drivers side is plug 1 and so on. Take them out and inspect them and keep them in the right order. If you can take pictures and post them on this thread numbered then I can eliminate that part unless you have a friend or are mechanically inclined yourself. They should not be cooked (blackish oily resin or smell of petrol then you need to make a note of which number plug it is and get back to me right away).

If they are fine then follow these instructions to the letter:

What you need to do is check your actuator, from the side that is attached to the turbo gate and pull it towards you and then away from you with as much force as possible. Do this several times. If it is rock solid then it is ok, if it is weak and has movement then you need to change it.

If it is rock solid then the next stage is to take off the pipe that is going into the turbo intake, this is the pipe that is connected to your air box/induction kit.
Now you should be able to see directly into the turbo shaft.

Wobble the shaft (this is the part that the pipe was connected to) up and down, inwards and outwards and visually check that there is no distortion on the intake compressor wheel (some call it the spool).

If that is ok then you need to move onto the next stage which requires a ramp.

If it is too much to digest then get a friend with a little know how to ollow these instructions and keep me posted mate.
