too much oil puts a big strain on the engine mate so if you have too much in it then drop it out and put new stuff in!!!millers 10w60 seems to be a favourite

too much or too little will harm the engine.
you are first most likely to pop a few oil seals'
drain some out to the level mate or change it.

i would agree with stuarttyres on the oil.

hydraulic locks are not something you want
