TME

Evening chaps.

I have been looking at the TME evo 6 and really want one. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. Could anyone tell me what decals should be standard and if there is a way you can tell otherwise. For instance, I have noticed that on some, the spoiler has a Mitzu badge whereas others don't or have a Marlboro tag on the spoiler. I guess it's a bit of a minefield is it? Also, is it a real big deal between having an import other than a UK car?

Are there any real reasons why not to have one? I am sorry for all the novice questions but fancied a FQ400 VIII until I did a little bit reading. I really do like the TME though and would be my favored model. I would like a red one but as long as it has decals, I would also consider Black also.

Thanks in advance,
Chris.

The decals are on the red TME and are mainly the stripes down the side, the other colours don't have decals, though you see a few white ones with decals but I think they're added by the owner. You're probably thinking more of the WRC replicas with all the Marlboro decals etc. Most important thing to check is that a TME is actually a TME, the VIN should start cp9a-020. TBH any decent red TME is probably going to cost you 20k by now. Most are just rust buckets, you'll need a fresh import or a well-preserved one and they'll both cost you if you can find one.

Other than that no difference between UK and import, no reason not to get a TME either, they are better spec'd than the GSRs.

Hi aidy, thanks for that. The one I am looking at is a fresh import and looks in very good condition. Here is a link to the car I have enquired about.

I was looking at a Black one with the decals and presumed it was standard. I have decided though, if I am going to get one, it will have to be a red one. Compared to the rest online at the minute, I thought this one seemed expensive and was going to try to haggle but from what you have said, if it does turn out a genuine car in the condition described, it might be worth it.

I will let you know if I go any further with it.

DCY have a good reputation so you'll do ok buying from them. TBH if you want a red TME in good condition they don't come up very often, that car is probably your best option at the moment, you're not going to get one much cheaper.

That's good to hear as I have never had any dealings with them. There is another car online at the minute and is a UK model which is a fair bit cheaper. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...ubishi-evo--tommi-makinen-edition-u-k/3949341

I guess I won't know how it is in reality until I go and see it but now I might be a little put off by the price. The chap has confirmed that it is a TME and not a replica and says it's in great condition.

I feel more inclined to pay a little extra and get the first one I sent a link to. It just looks a really tidy model.

If you do look at one already in the UK just make sure to check it for rust.

I have spoke to DCY and they have assured me that the car is in superb condition. We discussed certain options because I intend on using the car in the dry, maybe 1-2k per year. The floor looks like new and he said it's a shame to waxoyl the car but might be worth considering to keep it good. I have asked them to price up actually painting the floor also to give it that bit extra protection and will look great too but am unsure.

Looks like I will be picking it up some time next week fingers crossed!
