Temp dropping while driving

I put a brand new thermostat on yesterday pal not a change to the symptoms at all

My e4 is doing this but the temp drops right off , over idles as if on choke & seems to be over fueling .... Would all point to cold running

That makes sense. Just it sounded like you were saying it was Craig's car.

Worth checking the temp at the thermostat housing. But as said they are easy enough to replace

Ok so this mornin I have plugged in manual thermometer in the top hose, temp has stayed stable throughout test drive, temp gauge dropped through the floor and the digital gauge I plugged in stayed constant. Second part of journey, 40mph 2nd gear and the temp gauge dropped so going to check the volts in the battery after my cuppa make sure the altinator is not playing up as I don't want it to knacker the balancers in other gauges

This could be un-related, but I have found that my Speedo keeps dropping out at times although I have checked for the usual faults that my own car TME suffers from and it wasn't that problem. Also when my speedo drops out the speed signal to the ecu still continues to read so I knew something strange was going on.

Anyway the other night was the first time I had been out in the car whilst needing to have the head lights on (Haven't had the car for very long and mostly use during the day),as I was driving I noticed that my head lights would flash and that moments afterwards my speedo would drop out, carry on driving and the lights would flash again and the speedo would start working again.

Anyway luckily at the time I was running with the Openport cable plugged in and logging to the SD Card, so I had a look at the logs once back home. I found that my voltages were running around 14.49V but at times droping down to low 13v's. So either alternator or wiring issue somewhere I think.

Not really sure if this points in the same direction sort of thing as yours, but I thought I would mention it.

I haven't yet done any investigation on my own car, but I'll watch your thread and let you know what I find once I have a chance.

Thanks mate I'm goin to check my voltage soon I got side tracked gettin one of my nitro cars up and running, slow day for me

I checked the voltage tonight just before finishing work, sitting still I can only rev to 3.5k due to launch control but it peaked at 14.7v which is a bit high I think, does anyone know what they should peak at? I'm now steering towards faulty altinator any suggestions.... As it does seen to be rev related

That's about right for no load. Mine does 14.5 - 7 also. I'd still say corroded connector some where
