Gday. Any ideas as to why my tail shaft wont slide out of transfer case. Have tapped it lightly and then bashed it hard. Other evos we've had, it just slides out. Dont want to bash it to much in case something breaks.

Cheers Mitch

You need a slide hammer to remove the input shaft it's the only way,

Sorry. I meant the extension housing off the transfer case. Also said tailshaft or prop shaft. From transfer to rear diff. Have unbolted it from diff but wont slide out.

Undo the center bearing and you will be able to slide it out

Weird. There is nothing that holds it in cos its allowed to move as the engine tilts forward and back under load.

Yep. Should move slightly when driving etc and should just slide out to remove. Got me stuffed.

If the centre bearing is removed it should sag in the middle and slide out, are you saying its not moving at all?

Yep. Shaft completely unbolted from diff and center bearings. Laying on the ground. No movement whatsoever in or out.
