As per title,
Any tips?

You probably all know my car needs a few expensive bits sorting. So rather than be without a car for long periods of time i'm probably going to pop out over the weekend and buy myself a Golf or similar to run around in over the winter and stick my EVO in the garage

Will give me the luxury of doing bits and bobs at my leisure while knowing I still have a car to drive around in.

A short list of jobs are;
- 5-spd box needs refurb or replace
- transfer box whining
- Diff possibly whining
- Turbo whistling (could be pipe work or could need new turbo)
- Exhaust manifold blowing, needs replacing
- Brakes squeeking and need attention
- Exhaust

So a fair few quid!!

Just after some tips, other than disconnecting the battery and leaving the handbrake off. If the car is going to be stationary for say 6-9 months anything else I should do?

If the exhaust is blowing alot then you'll usually hear the turbo whistling through this :)

Could that be the same if its manifold/gasket too.

I'll need to do some more investigating but saving a few quid trading in a working turbo instead of a bust one could all help :)

Purchased a Golf today as a run around. Gone for the boring heavy mark IV one!

Keep it off the ground if you're storing it for months, it will give the tires a break and remove the chances of flat spots which can happen if you leave it still. Give it an oil change - ie fresh oil in the engine, run it for a few minutes to get it into the gaps then put a battery conditioner on it :) Clear out all the arches with a stiff brush to get dried road grime out too as if you get anything in there and its touching bare metal, it'll begin to rust if its kept warm.

My car is off the road on axle stands as i'm removing all the suspension components for blasting and coating :D then undersealing properly.
