Standard Air Box Mod

Just checking really, I have a totally standard Evo IX, and not sure on to mod it or not, but fancy a bit more noise.

Have heard you can cut the side part of the top lid on the standard airbox, will this increase the turbo spool noise, i.e same affect you get with the lid off...

Dont wanna hack my lid incase it don't make a blind bit of difference

Also doing this, will you need to get it remapped, or tuned?

It should increase noise and spool. Not enough to warrant a remap I wouldn't think. If thats the only mod your doing. Maybe better to just decat it. Just a bolt of/bolt on job. But I would then recommend a remap or atleast to get fueling checked.

Yeah be the only mod ill be doing Rob, its a such a standard decent example, full Mitsi History etc. Seems a shame to mod it :/ although your last comment about once you mod cant stop is the reason why I havent started

So shouldn't need a remap just by cutting the side of the air box?
Also was going to change the drop-in filter. Any decent ones you recommend?
