It may well be your alternator!

Has been know to happen on rare occasions and does coincide with the fan kicking in.

It could even be one of the lash adjusters.

When was the oil last changed???

The best way to check if it is the alternator is to see if it is coming from the same side that the alternator is on by listening closely. You may well be better off visiting a garage that has a stethoscope or similar device to eliminate the alternator from the list of possibilities.

I recommend 10w40 kiddo.

It is slightly thicker and good to go either way.

You will find that the thinner oils may well be good and recommended for performance but they unleash all the knocks and bangs which might be harmless to the engine but are a nightmare for the owner as they have a knack of initiating paranoia!!!

I personally hate dealing with them and stick to the thicker oils as they offer me piece of mind:D

i think ill use that on my next oil change i might actually just cahange it in next few days as this noise i reckon has started since the change of oil so maybe its just paranoia well i hope!!!:):)

Not really, they do more harm then good. Some times they create many problems around valve seals and piston rings as well as up top. This brings out the noises that you really want to leave alone!!!!
