Welcome!

Obviously im a bit bias but I would definatly choose the evo (though without the sst). Though they are quite different beasts of cars so i would really say drive them both for a decent amount of time and see a couple of each before you decide.

As for dealers the York dealer (Turnbulls) is OK (not fantastic but OK) and an independant I would recommend would be The Racing Line in Halifax. A bit away from leeds but great guys.

Let us know how you get on!

thanks for the help guys

just read on another evo forum on the amount of evo's that have been stolen, one guy had his taken by 3 armed guys, his car was used in a armed post office raid, its one reason why so many evo owners are selling their cars.

this has got me seriously thinking about buying an evo :(

you can read about it here -

But that kind of scary stuff can happen with any car and does happen with faster cars.
My road car is a Civic Type R. They cant be stolen without keys (or a flatbed) so the only way its really going to get stolen is they come into the house (and get eaten by a dog) or they are going to remove me from the car.

The best thing to do is to try to put it out of your mind and do everything you can to secure your car and home as best you can.

And M series are probably one of the more often targets around here (or at least the ones you hear about more)...

Its all bad stuff but dont let it spoil your car enjoyment!

It's an EVO X for me

Had a lot of cars in my time and the Evo X (FQ-300/SST) is fabulous.

I ummed and arred for approximately...well no time actually. It was a clear cut EVO X for me.

1) Crime - as pointed out...depends where you live, but if someone is going to have the bollocks to carjack, doesn't matter what you drive. Why shelve your fun just in case (do you worry you'll get hit by a bus everyday??)
2) You won't buy one of these for fuel economy (but then you might not stand in front of a mirror and shout 'Candyman' 3 times!). My X will dofrom 15mpg to 31mpg.
3) As far as all-out gadgets go (we're talking EVERYTHING you could possibly want here - nav/graphical displays of economy, temp, baro, AWS function/phone/DVD/CDDB hard drive for multimedia etc..) the Evo X has it all with the MMCS system as standard.
4) Wow-ability - looks great (both exec and mean) although some of the hard-core Mitsu Evo owners may disagree that the classic has gone a bit.

So...in my newbie eyes....grab yourself an EVO X (Bells Mitsubishi - Northampton). Brilliant dealers, fab part X on my old car/ Great servicing plan / Tax / Waranty and no fob-off care plan bollocks thrown at you. Gary Kingsnorth is your man.

Hope this helps...
