safe to do bank transfer or postal order

hi guys, just wanted to know if its safe to do a bank transfer or postal order when buying something from a member on the forums. Is there a chance of getting my money back if i use these methods if anything went wrong?

No! Unless you know they're good for the deal.

Stick to PayPal or meeting in person and exchanging item for cash.

I would watch that mate, although it may be genuine i dont see why in this day and age someone who buys or sells stuff online cant take 2 mins to create a paypal account.
And no you probably wouldnt get your money back if you didnt receive item or whatever. Paypal are very good for refunding if you are genuine so i only ever use paypal.

thanks for the advice guys, yeah i stick to paypal and i got a good reputation on their due to many transactions on ebay and etc. but the seller saying his account has been suspended so thats a sign already. But yeah best to be safe than sorry i guess

In a private sale, there isn't much come back anyway. Which is why its SO important to go over the car fully before you buy. To make a fast payment, i would always do a BACS transfer. I'd never carry large amounts of cash around with me ever.

after the problems i got off here when i bought something and my bank would not help me out so stick with paypal or credit card.there has been a few things ive lost because the person wants a bank tranfer but you live and learn
