looking for a good rod, nothing like a grand silly, what is the typical rating for a H beam rod compared to a I beam rod?

I thought that different manufacturers have different ratings on the rods I.e

Eagle H beam rods rated @ 1000hp vs Manley H beam rods rated @ 600hp

So without asking the actual makers I think they vary massively ;)

I beam rods are the stronger of the 2 but will cost you more

For a safe 600 I would go and ask Ant @ indigo GT he will be able to give you a better idea ;)

all the crack is that after RE doing my engine i got the rods and pistons together still i thought if i can get 400 for them i can add more and get new ones, maybe stronger for a good safety margin, there scat H beams at the moment and got them as a kit from ross sport unsure of rating of them

some good threads over the road with disccusions on rods, its more about finding the balance between strength and weight for the application.

Oliver do a great rod and there are many out there that are 1000 BHP capable or so the claim goes but it all boils down to the manufacturer and what tests were conducted before the rating was applied.

I beams are not necessarily the stronger of the two as opinions differ considerably and it is a topic that can be talked to death but would take many years to reach that point.

If you want to spend £1000 then you can get Drag Specification Extreme Rods.

If you want to go safe with 600 BHP Capable Rods then there is a keenly priced H Beam Rod pack available.

The mere fact that some H Beams are lower priced and some I Beams are over priced does not mean anything at all and should not reflect on the quality or durability of the Rods in any way.

The best way to get the Rods you want is to talk to a reputable supplier that is not just out to take your money but has done the research on all the products available and then crunched the numbers to ensure that you are getting what is required at a price that suits you.
