With the Clifford system you could only start the car via remote if you have switched the car off with the intelliestart system so there is no chance of starting in gear :)

A car alarm is only as good as the fitter, i've had both toad and clifford alarms and had no problems with either. My old 6 had the Ai606 on it and was a fantastic alarm for the price! I added a prox sensor to it and it got overly sensitive even on the lowest setting so ended up removing it. The GT has a clifford on it and its great! Its got shock, prox, tilt sensors and never had a problem with it :D

I've got the toad it's spot on go a foot near the car and it gives a warning tone if they stay near it and set the alarm off I'll get a text message I can also start my car on the key fob and turn it off, if somebody steals my car with the keys or without I can text my car telling it to stop, it's spot on

Hi Mark,

Which Toad model do you have? It sounds fantastic.

Hi mate it's the toad ai606 with shock sensors, dual microwave sensors, remote car start (which won't start while in gear lol) text alert which is a text message to your phone if somebody tampers with your car, and text to stop the car if stolen, u can also have the full set (inside and outside car full alarm set) or just inside and not outside (if u r having your car cleaned) or just your outside and not your inside (if u have kids in the car and u want to nip to the shop) this is the system I picked and the stuff I wanted on it, u don't have to have the same, u can have what suits u to your benifit, there r a lot ov good alarm systems out there, but if somebody wants my car they will have to tow it away or a recovery truck, hopefully that will never happen lol, I also have the option to have a tracker put on the system for £30 a year but ain't bother as the text alert is good enough,

What a fantastic reply, thank you for going into the options that you have, I particularly like the text options and some of the other bits you mentioned, that's defo on my shortlist.

Thanks again.

One thing to consider in your decision is out of all your choices who is the closet dealer/fitter. If you have a problem in the future where you can not start car, you can not get in the car etc and it is due to the alarm. Then you find out your fitter is 100 mile away you are going to be stuck for a while.
Just one point to consider and it does happen lol

Clifford C650 on mine, absolutely superb. But depends entirely on who fits it! Mine was fitted by one of the best, he was here for 10 hours doing it meticulously and kept showing me what he was doing, how he was hiding bits of it and wiring it etc.
Had it 6 years now and it's perfect. But get a complete tool to fit it and expect lots of problems
