Remaping

Got my car all set to go in garage for remap at last looking at 390bhp at 1.9bar on setting b on boost controller and got my safe map at 360 - 370bhp at 1.6 or 1.7 bar cnt remember now on setting a. Gona get fuel pump been advised not to bother with an induction kit as I already got a piper cross panel filter and the air box already got cold air feed from the front. Got the 3inch miltek with the turbo smart duel dump valve sounds awesome. Feel like am getting somewhere at last they gona sort out the exhaust swell needs to get tweaked up so it don't vibrate.
Been told the torque gona be the same as the bhp. Some one said to get more torque bottom end and then let the car go through the rev range I don't know how this garage gona do it thow can't wait.
Cause of the problems I've been having recently drove 50miles to this garage and on the way back had a bmw330dmsport race me on the way back the car was keeping up all the way more or less. When we got to a petrol pump we pulled over to have a little chat and cool the adrenaline down, anyways guess what bhp he had his car mapped to? 385bhp now for a diesel that was quick then I told him il see him same stretch next week to surprise him to leave him behind at 390 bhp now that's gona shock him.
Back to the car what are your views regarding the induction kit and setting the turbo at what ? Bar?? As well as where do you reckon the torque should cut in more bottom end of all the way do tell??

first what car is it? also if your running 390 bhp you should have had a fuel pump fitted as the standard won't supply enough fuel up top. you want torque all the way as its that, that gets you from a to b the quickest, panel filter will be fine, do you have a cold air feed to the box? what turbo do you have, have you got injectors as they'll be maxing out too

don't get too wrapped up in bhp figures mate.

WHat you will be looking for is a smooth delivery of power.

If the power is constant throughout the rev range that will get you a to b the quickest rather than having a peak bhp that then just dies!

As mentioned I would suggest you already have a 255l fuel pump if you pushing 1.9bar or is that what you after once installed?

Still learning myself but not sure the standard turbo will like 1.9bar much, I could be wrong but i'll leave to those in the know to advise.

There is a useful post on here somewhere about how to get 400/400, that's probably your best guide.

Furthermore some mappers aren't interested in the health of your car so be careful who you use otherwise you'll be picking bits of your engine up after a while!!

The car is mrfq300 it is getting a new fuel pump, it has got a cold air intake to the air box. The turbo is standard Evo 8 mrfq300. Got standard injectors have not been advised to change them thanks AND.

Yes invisible I understand these guys race evos. Was told that the 1.9bar is high and gona get another map on it too which is safer but also he said he'll show me how to use the high setting safely and told me not to keep topping the speed constantly at like 170mph or that could damage the car.

By the way they also got an Evo 8 or 9 that any one can hire for racing or track days didn't ask them how much they charge.

an mr will run 2bar, but if you have standard internals then they won't last long, I'd only run at about 1.7-1.8 max, but at 1.9 the standard injectors will definately be maxed out :(

do you mind me asking who mapped it?

Ok Sounds like they have a good rep and know what they are doing.

Let us know what the outcome is

My 9 has a 255 walbro and was remapped to peak at 2 bar and hold at 1.9, no worries there as long as your not holding peak forever and a day like a numpty. Another reason why the boost gauge with alarm is a must LOL.

Im now mapped at 1.8 and 1.9 peak as I added more power mods so dont need to push all the way to 2.0 bar, its not much at all but in my head im saving the tubby a little LOL

To the OP.....

If it was me id start at fuel pump, decat, 3" exhaust then have it remapped and see where that gets you mate from there its a good base to build on.

As for injectors im unsure if you will need them, if you dont stain the guts out of the turbo, but im no expert have it mapped safe, DON'T go in there asking the mapper for all out power as it will be mapped for power not driveability and engine safeness. A good mapper IMO should ask what you want from the car, not what figures you want from the car.

With Indigo I tell Ant what I want, he maps it with me driving (normally), then if im happy he's happy, if im not happy were not finished and we will stay out till we get it how I want it...........after all that Ill ask him what power he expects it to make, and what he would be happy with after his map :whistling:

Ive asked him loads of times to go for power and his reply is normally the same......I can map it for power if you want , but dont blame me if a rod says hello !

Power means nothing if it drives like a pig ;)

Thanks for the info guys yes he did ask me what I want from the car and I told him 380 390 bhp would be nice but I understand what your saying and that's why he said he'll put a safe map on there aswell at 360 370 bhp. Just want to point out he said he'll run 380 385 bhp at 1.7bar and not at 1.9bar got that mixed up anyway I don't know much about this but I know I don't want to be greeting a rod while am having fun or not lol. What I want is maximum output good torque and reliable power that my car is safe to use on a daily basis. But I don't want to have all the power if I'm risking my engine rods etc and I feel I'd be safe at 380 385bhp at 1.7bar.

personnally I would only go with 1.7 bar peak (as your on standard internals) that way it'll be safe all the time, and you shouldn't be going lean then. Although I do recommend a fuel pump first. you should then see about 360+ bhp and similar torque

Thanks And I am getting a fuel pump walbro 255 I believe so u reckon to stick at 1.7bar ok I understand what u saying about standard internals il bear that in mind
