Having used a vast variety of in car video equipment in my cars over the last 6 years i sold my Vbox lite a few month ago and was attracted to the Race technology variations of datalogers and display equipment, one of the main reasons for me was simplicity as the company seemed to have sucjh a wide range of video tutorials at hand to guide you through whats whats (im lazy:mhihi
but at the same time struggled with the other set up if im honest
whats also very appealing is that they have managed to make these products work in harmony with the Go Pro cameras so all of you guys out there with go pro you may just have a nice upgrade possible for it.
im just about to fit a full kit into my sprint car and have managed to get access to sell there products through our company. so when im set up and running i will add to this with my experience however given the size of the company and the amount of current users please see below whats on offer.
DL1 Datalogger
The DL1 data logger from Race Technology is a state of the art but compact data logging system suitable for all motorsports, to monitor and improve driver and vehicle performance.
The DL1 can store data from a number of sources including its built in GPS and accelerometers. one key advantage of using a high accuracy 5Hz GPS system and a 3 axis accelerometer is that it greatly improves track mapping and gives far more accurate speed measurements and lap times. One other advantage of using GPS is that it negates the use for trackside beacons. The DL1 can also receive data from up to 13 external sensors. It features a true 100Hz update rate on all channels, making it capable of detecting minute changes. Lap and sector timing are both available with a satellite overlay option on track maps (live lap and sector timing are also possible when using a Race Technology dash display).
All information stored on the DL1 is done so on a removable memory card for easy downloads, as well as being output in real time for display on a Race Technology dash. A 1 GB memory card can hold approximately 50 hours of data logging, and the easy to use, comprehensive download software makes studying the information easy.
The DL1 Has 3 Models:
• 5Hz: The 'all rounder' DL1 data logger incorporating all the above features and functions.
• 20Hz: The 20Hz option of the DL1 is quite simply one of the most accurate data logging systems available. It has all the features of the 5Hz model, but offers greater positional accuracy.
• Drift: The Drift model DL1 has a built in highly accurate gyro to measure the way the car is pointing, and by comparing this with the GPS data, it can measure the drift angle of the vehicle.

The Software
The software that comes with this seems simply amazing, very very user friendly and it appears like there are so many features available that their rivals don't offer, along with a you tube site and website that is packed with very easy to understand help and support files
Software
Without doubt the power of their analysis software is one of the key reasons why Race Technology products go from strength to strength. The Race Technolgy Data Analysis Software is the main application that is suupplied with nearly all of their products, and as the title suggests, it allows you to analyse the data you collect in various ways.
A very simple way of what the software can do is to download the data after a race and calculate lap times and speeds around the circuit, or fopr example, plot the power output for the run. However this is just scratching the surface of the softwares capabilities, as it is such a hugely powerful and flexible piece of software. Some of its more cutting edge features include:

Dash 2
The Race Technology Dash 2 is a compact, robust, water resistant display unit for road, racing and vehicle testing applications, which can be used either as a standalone dash unit, or when linked to a Race Technology GPS data logger becomes a dash display with real time data display and functions, including speed, RPM, sensor readings and lap/sector times with predictive lap times. It is ideal for demanding applications from single seaters to a professional engineering environments.
The Dash 2 either reads from sensors connected directly to the unit or via external sensors from a data logger. The data for each channel is then converted to the users preferred units and and displayed on the screen (for example you could display exhaust gas temperature and oil pressure, then set your own high/low warning levels for each of the channels). The Dash 2 also negated the need for a track side beacon as it displays highly accurate lap and sector times - all calculated from GPS data.
When used in stand alone mode, the Dash 2 can monitor up to four analogue inputs. It has inputs for engine speed (RPM),vehicles speed, a non resettable odometer and warning lights for full road legal operation.
When the Dash 2 is connected to a Race Technology data logger, it can then be further configured to display many more parameters including real time lap and sector times calculated from GPS data, any available analogue measurements (temperatures, pressures etc),RPM, wheel/shaft speeds etc. The actual data displayed can be set up for the users specific requirements, including independent alarms for all channels. Please note: It is necessary to connect four external buttons to the Dash 2 to operate the menu system and select different display screens (buttons are not supplied with the Dash 2, but any momentary dash mounted/steering wheel button will suffice).

Its compact size, low weight and flexible mounting options make it a versatile tool suitable for almost all applications, from karts and motorcycles to saloon cars and formula cars. The dash display extends the functionality of the Race Technology data loggers by allowing the driver to see the data in real time as it is happening in the vehicle.
At only 119mm x 53mm it is one of the most compact displays around, yet it has a fully configurable graphics LCD back lit display and is packed with features. It is available in 2 versions - full and lite. Both units take their feed from Race Technology data loggers (or ECU interface) and feature comprehensive lap and sector timing features, including:
Lap timer
Lap time memory and recall
Lap and sector time display
Predictive lap timing
Best lap/sector notification
Session summary review
The Dash 3 lite also displays the vehicle speed and has programmable shift lights, whilst the Dash 3 full can display comprehensive data from GPS, accelerometers, sensors and ECU interfaces in numerical, bar graph and XY graph formats.
