Probably a silly newbie question about boost!

I'm looking at manual boost controllers on eBay, are these safe to use? I'm trying to squeeze more power out of my E8 on a tight budget (sadly saving for a wedding)! I will eventually go down to NR in lincoln for a remap!

Cheapest and best way to do it is to fit a 3 point boost solenoid for around £45 and let the ecu control the boost :)

Personally I'd put the wedding on hold a lil longer then do a proper job to the car, buy cheap you'll end up buying twice and sometimes spending more :/

Your car already has a boost solenoid as standard but only a 2 port. Exchanging it for a 3 port means some of the pressure can be bleed off so in effect higher boost levels can be reached.
However boost levels should not be increased with out the fueling and ignition being checked and tweaked by a recommended mapper.
Basically if you want more power then just cranking up the boost is not the answer. Remapping is the only way and should only be done and can only be done by those in the know. But be careful as some don't know enough :)

I use a dawes device on my car it doesn't spike and holds a constant boost. This is a temp measure until my 3 port is Plummed in but I can't fault it

B6lee thanks a lot for your help mate, I think I may just pop down to NR and slap it on the plastic (obviously not telling the misses)!!

as said you don't want to be upping the boost without a remap or at least get it checked tobe running safely.

nothing wrong with a good quality manual boost controller - cheap and reliable.

absolutely, nothing wrong with a dawes device and hold boost very well, plus only take minuets to install.........
