Pics from ASDA Charity "on your marks" day at Bruntingthorpe

This occured on Sunday 15th Aug, was a great day
you get free track time, and in return you take passengers out who pay £5 a lap that goes to charity

I had an amazing day, unfortunatly my track time was cut short in the afternoon when my tensioner exploded off the side of my engine, at about 100mph 6500rpm and slighty sideways coming out of a hairpin onto the straight Doh!

my unfortunate end to the day :(

A great day out by the looks of it!

Some how I knew your car would be featured last on a trailer or something:D

Still, looks like it was a fabulous day out regardless of the little mishap;)

Thanks for sharing the pictures Colin,

Wow!!!

I think you should keep me posted on this one for next August. I WILL be attending for sure. It sounds like every one had a good time, it was something for the kiddies too and a charity benefited from it which is best of all.

I have loads of nice performance cars at my disposal so would not mind bringing some thing over either!!!

There is something similar in Nov, at the NEC, from what i gather its a little bit tamer as its on the public roads instead of a quick blast up a track, but i should be attending this one also

I will give this Mick character a call tomorrow and see what can be arranged. If it's at the NEC then I will try and see if I make arrangements for us to have a meet their on the day too.

That's only if every one else is in agreement too of course.

Just kidding mate!

You are right, the kiddies always want you to go faster!!!

The Pensioner you had in the car was smiling too so it can't have been a half bad experience in the RS could it:D:D:D

Got to the bottom of the breakage on the trackday!

it turns out it was the crank pulley that sheared off and exploded, ooops

Thanks to john@evobreakers for sorting me out :)

Whaaaaaaaat!

The thing is Colin, that pulley comes in 2 pieces that are joined together with a rubber welt. It has been known for them to come apart and is a kind of design fault that was not addressed at all.

I suspect that when you went sideways, the outer rim was hit and forced it of, it must have shattered when it hit the ground or something else under the bonnet.

Do you have an under guard fitted???
I think not but I suggest you get one. Your driving style demands it from you!!!
