oil breather problems

so i finally brought myself and evo 3, and ive been driving it and its good! then last night i made the decision to dust a bmw .... big time ill add, and then suddenly splat, engine oil all over my screen, from the bonnet vent, so i open the bonnet and there is oil all over the rocker near the cap and all over the dipstick tube, so i figured out the oil cap had no seat, so my question is what are the possible causes for my dipstick firing itself out and can there really be enough pressure to spray oil out my dipstick or even oil cap, unless my breather system is blocked in some way.... any ideas? i hear about some sort of valves in the rocker? is there a way of drilling the breather bigger or adding a oil breather filter?

Pressure in the sump usually means something bad.

But I have read that the dipsticks can come out easily if the rubber seal is worn. I'd get a new one and see if it happens again.

you see im not 100% sure whether the oil came from the dipstick or from the oil cap that has no seal, but im kind of scared now to boost it in case it does the same thing again!

Oil cap no seal!!!

Sorry missed that in your post. That's the problem, if you take it off when idling oils splatters out, can't imagine what it would be like at high revs

New oil cap needed :D

New oil cap.
New o ring on dipstick or even fit a spring to hold it down.

Pressure on boost increases, causing the oil blow...
Revving the engine with no load from boost won't cause enough pressure...

I had a problem like this on my Evo II..

Was oil cap :)... My dipstick never came out mind you.

Buy a new cap and eliminate that! I just got the oem one from camskill :).

Buy a new oil cap..

and FFS a new PCV valve .. Look online, I paid 11$ from eBay.com its the same pcv valve found in 1991-1999 Mitsubishi eclipse .

the check valve inside gets stuck and the boost goes into the valvecover pressurising the crank case.

how come noone ever suggest swapping a pcv valve???

try the oil cap first but its common for the ringlands to crack on the evo 3 engines.
