Hey,

In the process of trying to find my 1st Evo. Man its a mind field with types, versions etc. Test driving an EvoX on saturday to get a feel. Can't really warrant paying out for a new one, maybe a 2yr old?. Also toying with a Evo6 TommiM, save a tonne of cash and have some left over for mods and beemer estate :)

Checked out SVA imports too as they have few TMs. I wanted to find one that hasn't been mod'd and a decent service history bit like this one on PistonHs: Mitsubishi : Mitsubishi Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition UK Car

I've looked through all the posts here on what to look out for, private vs dealer etc. Any comments on the car or recommended dealers in the South welcome. SVA any good?

Thanks peeps.
Otto.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!!!!!

Do not go a X as they have many issues that will come to light in year 4.

If you have the money then go for a IX.

Keep us posted on how you get on with the hunt.

Hey El,

Cheers for the info. Yeah after much deliberation(sp?) I think it's too much cash for an X. Didn't like the IX shape to begin with but they're all growing on me know. Gona have to get an estate this wknd as a work horse run around. Funds are gona be less so X is out the window. Still going for the test drive though :D IX's are still up there price wise so I'm swaying towards the 6s. Gave SVR a buzz yesterday and they have some arriving from Nippon mid June. May have to pop down and pay a visit if nothing private turns up. Not sure if they PX though? Need to get rid of my GolfIVGTI.

Thanks for the reply! Hope I can get on board for the summer. :)

All depends on 1st ur budget n second ur taste,I spent a yr lookin for mine,if a 9 is still a bit much the evo 8 mr is exactly the same, the normal 8 isn't quite as advanced,it doesn't feel quite the same,if u took an fq for a drive then an mrfq ud notice the difference, basicly they made the evo 9 with everythin from the 8 mr,there's jus the slight bodywork change, the front n back bumpers r slightly different on the 8 to the 9,but that's an easy fix,I bought mine 2yrs ago from a place called extreme in bimingham, they were brilliant,I managed to get an mrfq340 in gunmetal grey with hlf leather, tracker upgraded, cat 1 alarm n full service history for 15k.the 6tm edition is a gud choice too, these are wot made me like evos,I have a big soft spot for them.hope this helps, def try extreme as all they deal with is evos realy, and if u tel em wot u want they will ring u back wen they get one in.

Hi, yeah have checked out Extreme. They have some really nice stuff. There's an MR on there at the mo for 15k. It does look stunning. There's another one on autoT too for the same price. My budget keeps changing as I keep wrestling with my conscious. Think I should have 8k to either pay for something out right or to put a deposit down and loan the rest. It's hard to keep the budget from flying off into the sunset ;) Will keep looking and keep you posted. Thanks for the info!.

Spent 4 hours down the dealers this morning! Tiring. Took an X and a IX out. The IX in the pic I must admit I prefered the drive, smoother and defo prefered the manual 6 speed. The X was an SST. I drove it in auto and although it was quick I felt that it removes you too much from the driving experience. Didn't try the paddles as I was a little nervous of the power. I hate that auto change delay down thing too.

Loved the handling in both cars though, reminded me of my old mini with adjustables on, a good driving experience. Acceleration is nice and smooth and I had to keep an eye out on the speedo as 100 comes up really quick. :)

ANyway here's the pics and I'll keep on looking. Oh and quick Q how much different would a Evo6 GSR feel to the IX?
