Hi everyone
I've just sold my Megane R26 and have test driven the Impreza Wrx Sti and Evo FQ300 and i'm seriously thinking of buying the Evo!

One reason for looking at the scoob and the Evo is the four wheel drive, as my R26 is rubbish in the smallest amounts of snow. I've never had a semi-automatic before and I was wondering how it handles in the snow?

Surely an automatic and snow don't go together?

Automatic vehicles are far better in slippery conditions than any manual!

Welcome mate.... IMO it don't matter if its 4x4 or 2wd any car will lose traction in the snow an slip its the speed driven at that counts!!!!

But I'd say the evo is the best choice by far.

I was always led to believe that they were worse because you couldn't be in the right gear at the right time.

Well I have never had any trouble with an automatic being in the wrong gear! Saying that you do have to know how to drive one correctly!

I do alot of off roading and fieldwork and I have found the best vehicle to do it in is an Automatic!

Yer I know what you mean but in my Megane you darn't stop coz if you did it was a git to get moving again in only about an inch of snow. I guess with a 4x4 you wouldn't get that problem so much.

It could be my crap driving of course.........

Tyres will play a big part of it Tony! Winter tyres for winter and summer tyres for summer! (if you can call it that what we get over here)

Getting moving is fine with 4x4 but stopping is the same :razz:

Supermario666 is completely right with the winter tyres , normal summer tyres are only for conditions above circa 7 degrees C. Infact a lot of winter tyres are easily within limits to be used in summer here in england!
