Hi, first of all im looking at getting an evo and the 4 as its in my price range, im not up on the info and specs etc as ive always owned nissans.

i own a 200sx s14a running 290bhp and am bored of the rwd and unable to get quick launches i.e just clouds of smoke so looking to stay with jap and ive always liked evos.

so basically if i got an evo 4 would a standard or basic be any quicker than my 200?? As once its got grip it flys, but i want quicker!! And im not spending mega on bigger turbos and stop just too loose my money when i sell!

So what mods would i need to get on a 4 to make it wipe the floor with a 200 on a straight as i no it could off the lights and corners anyways.

Finally what is there too look out on the 4s? Ive heard weak bottom ends??

Welcome to the club mate.

I work with someone whos got an s14a 200, its got exhaust and intake so pritty much standard. He took my evo out a couple of weeks ago and said he was suprised how quick it was and that it would kill his 200. Mines an e4 with turbo back straight through exhaust, apexi intake and boost upped to 1.1 bar, just under 300bhp.
They do get crankwalk but its not as common as people will tell you it is.

Get some pics of your 200 up aswell, geof likes pics because he cant read.

Thanks :)

Yeah ill get some uploaded, ive spent 5k on it as i got it from standard, i look at it and think wheres the money gone lol but it is a clean one

i was looking at more for an rs version but i see these are quite rare so i would go for the right GSR, was looking to have around 320ish and hoping it being reliable too, apart from basics mods i.e full exhaust, filter, walbro, how do you go about re mapping an evo 4? Or is it put a later ecu in it? What sort of boost is safe to run with stock turbo and intercooler?

Give me a while to get these pics up as im new to all this

Evo 5 and 6 ecu's plug straight in and are remappable, you would need injectors to go with it (4's have 510cc, 5 on are 560cc) boost on a 4 engine depends who you talk to, i plan on running 1.4 on mine when i get it mapped.

I know what you mean about money dissapearing, i've got the evo, an r33 gtst skyline and a 205 gti track project, money doesn't stay in the bank for long. Lol.

Welcome to the party mate. Yh get some pics up.

Standard it will be just shy power figure wise but the power grip delivery is completely different and with some simple mods and a map your 320 can be reached and will be a different machine. Your making the right choice buddy, like I said totally different experience

Ok cheers

to run a 4 at for example 1 bar with basic breathing mods would that be fine on standard ecu or would it ideally need a remap?

Looks a nice 200 with a good spec mate.
I take it you drift it from the nissan wheels on the back?

Running at 1.1 bar without map is fine in my opinion (thats what im running) obviously you would want a map to get the best from it, but you shouldnt have any problems.

Haha yeah maybe on the odd occasion, but im past that now i want experience the 4 second 0-60 and major grip, plus 2 seats only is a bit of a shitter at times so the extra doors will help out

ok cool i no the map will get the best but as long as it would be safe for a bit then thats fine
