Hey guys/gals im a new member to this site.. and a new Evo owner.. So heres the deal. I just baught an Evo 7 a few weeks ago and all seemed to be fine.. until recently i started having a few problems. I dont know alot about cars atall but since i purchased the car ive noticed a drop in performance and a few clutch problems (over revs somtimes, violent jolt when accelerating, power somtimes has a delay before getting to the wheels) so i take it into mitsubishi and they said my clutch and flywheel is on its way out and will cost £1600 to replace. So down to my main question, if i give the car into mitsubishi they will replace my clutch and flywheel with factory parts, so do i A) let them replace with factory parts for £1600.. or B) take this opportunity to replace my clutch and flywheel with aftermarket parts to improve performance.. and if so, how much would this cost apporx in comparrison to my dealers quote. What would you guys do in my situation!

Is the car std?
If so I really wouldnt spend the extra to uprate it. A std clutch is quite strong but considered a consumable.
If its less than 4 weeks since you bought it and it was a dealer id be looking for contribution for the work too...

Hey Nick thanks alot for speedy reply, the car is standard yes.. since i dont know too much about cars i didnt want a car that was mod'd (for lack of a better word) upto the eyeballs. As far as i know it has aftermarket dump valve and Xenon bulbs. The car has pretty low milage for its age with only 40k clocked up, but if you think the factory gear holds up well i'll take your advice and let mitsubishi sort it.. although i cant say i wudnt want to upgrade in the future, once i know what im doing, just didnt want to let a good opportunity pass by. Glad to be part of the forum. cheers.

oh and P.S.. it was a private sale.. so i have to fork it out of my own pocket. Just curious if it wud be cheaper to buy aftermarket gear and get it done elsewhere.. or does £1600 from mitsubishi sound reasonable for this work?

40k sounds reasonable for a clutch (it can be made to last longer or less time) so thats fine.
The price sounds about right for a dealer but you could have a word with a mitsi specialist. That would certainly reduce the price even done with OEM stuff. Whether its better to save the money depends on you. I certainly would use a specialist but some like to have everything done by a dealer...
