Nasty rattle :(

Started the car up this aff and noticed a nasty rattle a lot more than usual tappet sound, it's coming from under the rocket cover more to can belt side or at least that's where it sounds like. Sounds as if something is hitting the rocker cover, doesn't feel like it though.

I bought the car from a garage and got warranty so want to make sure every thing is ok, doesn't sound right though.

Any ideas?

Have you drove it since the rattle started? If so has it lost power? Feel lumpy?

Yeah I have driven it, not down on
Power or running lumpy, more noticeable around 2000 revs

place your hand on the power steering return pipe. If it pulsate's that's where it coming from. Others.. loose spark plug, heat shield, loose nuts on covers ..

Check the bolts holding cam belt pullys, had a similar noise that sounded like that to start with and got worse till it sounded like a tractor, found it was loose bolts on both cam pullys allowing them to rock on the key way!

I'm thinking the best option is get the garage I got it from to sort it or pay for local mitsubishi to sort it as it came with standard 90 day warranty

Got the car booked in to tees valley motors to find out what the problem is, this is the closest Mitsubishi dealership. Anyone know of this place?

Had the car into Mitsubishi today was assured everything was spot on no noise no more. The guy said it was probably air in the lifters. He also informed me he was a rally art mechanic and used to build some thing called hurricane editions in his previouse job.

Has no one heard of these? The guy was convinced he had tuned my car. I can only find a very small amount of info on these.

yeah ive heard of the hurricane edition. just a stage 1 power upgrade i believe. tees valley motors? you must be near my neck of the woods are you? im from middlesbrough
