Hi, I am new here as I only bought my EVO last Wednesday.
I plan on doing lots of things to it over the next few months so I thought I would start a thread :)

Its an EVO IV RS which I believe is less common than the GSR. It has a rebuilt EVO VI engine with an EVO VIII turbo, Cosworth 285 cams, Blitz nur spec exhaust without a cat, Chipped standard ECU, HKS coilovers, Brembo 4 pot brakes with carbon ceramic pads, EVO 7 or 8 wheels (not sure) and full TME interior which is lovely.

Currently running 1.5ish bar of boost and making just under 400bhp apparently

It was imported in 2007

As it is it drives very well, I had a 300+ mile drive home when I picked it up and it was great fun!

My first job is to replace all the boost pipes. I am in the process of getting a full HKS hard pipe kit. I am also rust treating the few patches that are around before it gets worse and undersealing the whole car in the next week...

here are some pics...

Yeah Ive never come across much 4RS's at all. Do your rear wheels not scuff? Even with 205/40/17 my rears wheels were scuffing on my previous 4.

When you get round to rust proofing make sure you do the whole underside as that where they will rot first.

Hi, cheers for the advice. The rear wheels scrub a bit if I have passengers in the back but that is very rare! I am going to get the rear arches rolled though..

I couldn't find another RS for sale anywhere to compare prices with so I guessed it was quite rare.

I will put my car in my friends workshop and lift it in the air to underseal the whole of the underside

Cheers guys :)

I am really happy with it, puts such a grin on my face everytime I drive it.

Plans.... well firstly mainly preservation.. Underseal, derust etc... Its solid everywhere but I want to treat it before it starts to rot. I want to repaint the front bumper, change the headlights back to standard as it has some angel eye ones in atm and that's not my thing. The boost pipes will be done this week and I will tidy up the engine bay etc.

There is a very slight whine from the rear diff but I was given a new one in the sale I will change this out and some point. I want some sort of electronic boost control instead on the bleed valve. I am thinking Syvecs ECU as it will do everything I want although the ECU in the car does everything fine (if a little rich) The flames I get are HUGE!

The carbon Ceramic brake pads squeal like a bitch as they don't have the anti squeal plates in so I need to get some of those as its annoying, stops well though....

my first update......

Yesterday I fitted my new HKS hard pipe kit. It wasn't as straight forward as it should have been as the pipe I was having problems with was the one pipe you had to reuse! so I made a new one out of a length of tubular steel and then used a great tool to rib the ends so it was a proper boost pipe... I also made up my own brackets which held much better than the set up HKS suggested.

And I fitted a new air filter element as the old one knackered

next I am going to clean up the rest of the engine bay

Halo/Angel eye headlights!
Rear garnish lights are removed from the boot. Its not actually an RS boot lid. They're just removed.
You also have aircon still!! Climate control in cabin?
Don't bother with a Syvecs ECU just get a 5/6 and you'll have everything you need :D

The head lights where on it when I got it 3 weeks ago, I am waiting for some standard ones to arrive.

It IS an RS boot lid! It is an RS car! I cant see the holes where the other lights were removed! obviously it does not have the climate control in the cabin as its an RS. It also has manual windows and manual locks.

It was spec'd with air con when new and has an air con button but this does nothing. The air con system is still to be deleted.

I want a Syvecs as I know how good they are, I don't want an ECU that "will do" I want the best I can buy and my mate knows all about Syvecs and will map it to its optimum ability which is what I want.

Thanks, Adam

Ok not having a dig

Std ecu is more than capable that's all..
And only asking about the aircon because its not common on any rs model

Do the headlights pass mot??

Yeah I know most RS don't have air-con but this was bought as a private road car from new and the guy spec'd it up a bit lol

It has 12 months MOT so I guess it did but I really am not a fan of them and they will be changed asap.

It has a remapped standard ECU already which works fine but I like having stand alone management on my cars which I can tune and change as much as I like.

My best mate is the Director of one of the UK's leading car tuning companies and I do all my work on the car at his and have full use of his 1500bhp 4 wheel rototest dyno so I like to have full tuning options :)

They swapped the eprom out for another chip then ...
Not a fan of that myself. Like you said better to be able to retune when you need :sneaky:

Exactly mate. I am not a fan of chipped ecu's either. Much better to know exactly what it's doing ;)
