Good write up there :)

I had to open my idle screw as it wouldn't tick over at all.

I know what your saying about the domed nut. I'm running standard fuel rail but still had to tweak the thin part of the metal fitting on the end of the fuel line.

I had no previsions for water pipes on tb as I have a later 7/8/9 one so just removed 1 of the pipes then looped the other one round to the open outlet to complete the circuit

And yea my hardpipe also stepped down to about 60-65mm hence why I had it remade in 3" :)

thanks lee :O)

bet your happy with your tb 500 + club ,well done :O)

i was going to loop the water pipe my self but noticed the choke flap and when i ran some hot water through the pipes it turned so i thought i would leave it for now just to get the car back on the road ,

maybe if needed later as the thing is adjustable i could adjust it shut and then remove the hot water pipes .the cooler the inlet the better ???

there is defo a big differance in the way the car drives now more so than i thought there would be,

more torque faster spool its win win :O)

i saw your pipe work , thats nice,

i will have to see what comes up :O)

cheers
.

Yea see I was lead to believe that if you done away with the water pipes on the early tb that yes it means tb will be slightly cooler but also it will introduce cold start issues.

Mine is different as I have the later tb with later idle control valve so water pipes not needed anyway :)

Yea, see now I can feel it scrabbling for grip in 3rd gear or just plain spinning the wheels :)

hi guys .

been really busy and i need to get a new phone :O( so this is just a quick post .

i decided to up the size of my lower intercooler pipe work back to the inlet manifold as it steped from 70mm to around 60 mm hallf way down . simular to what b6lee has done .

but i didnt want to go 3" as im still on a small ish turbo ..

Fiat 70mm Alloy Intercooler Pipework Hose Kit Silicon | eBay

so i took a chance on a fleebay universal intercooler pipe kit as it worked out cheaper to buy than the parts i needed seperatly .as a friend wants what i dont use :O)

i ended up using 2x90 bends and a 6" straight pipe to join my cooler to my old hard pipe kit .

pic,s will follow when i sort a camera/ phone out :O)

the only thing i will say about the kit is that the clamps are to big for the pipe/hose size 80 /85 mm min size for a 70mm pipe kit and only work well if you dont cut the pipes down like i had to to make them fit as the flared ends are needed to stop the hoses coming off .and the kit is only really big enough to do half a full install if you wanted to do one .

but work ok when i used some smaller clamps :O)

two of the clamps that came with the kit let go at 1.5 bar ish :O( with no adjustment left ...im sure the company would change them if i sent them a email ;O)

the result is a surprise ???

the car seems to be i little less responsive off boost but comes on boost stronger than befor , system pressure tested befor and after to 2 bar .

i thought it would be more responsive off boost with bigger pipe work ??

its probably down to air speed or just that my map now needs a tweek after the throttle body and now the pipe size change .

will get that checked as soon as i can but for now all is good and the little e4 is still pulling strong :O)

cheers :O)

What diameter is your pipe between turbo and cooler ?
I know if you increase the size of this to much then that can introduce lag :)

hi lee will have to check to be sure but i seem to remember it was around 60mm when i fitted the intercooler . 60 in and out of the cooler stepping up to 70 over the gearbox :O)

ive also been told to leave that part alone due to lag and compression surge issues ??

to keep the air speed up :O)

Standard lower pipe or no ? Think the lower pipe should gradually increase in diameter starting same diameter as the outlet on turbo and yea no bigger than 60 when it reached the cooler :)
