Lowering question... knocking sound..

Yeah...its a really pain in the neck!!
When the car is jacked up if you try move the drop links should they move?? when i twisted my ones they seem to move easily? Is this normal??

They can move as there are ball joints on either end, my new ones (yep I replaced them too and the track rod ends!) are pretty ridgid but the original ones on the back can move fairly easily. I disconnected mine from the and tied the ARB out of the way took it for a spin, not literally, but still had knocking so I knew they weren't at fault. Might be worth replaceing them as a matter of course, they aren't expensive.

I've had a similar issue with my MR going over speedbumps or potholes at low speed, literally checked everything and a mechanic at the local garage had exactly the same problem on his own Evo.

Personally I think It's a combination of the 'Anti roll bar clunking', that doesn't go away even if you change every bush or droplink and the 'floating torque transfer tube', that sits between the gearbox and transfer case, rattling.

Not to be confused with the backlash noise in the gearbox on deceleration, should you be running a racing clutch on a solid flywheel...

Just part of the Evolution experience.
