were would i buy a cable to connect my laptop to my evo IV?

gonna buy the evoscan software but i think the price they are charging for the lead is crazy.

it surely only needs a lead that has the correct connections to go from usb to the 16 pin connector

The geeks are a bunch of members we have who know about ecu's ant technical stuff lie that. They don't get out very often so they read books and eat ecu's for breakfast dinner and tea :disgusted:

As sbn1979 said, Evo 4 ECU is not mappable, all you could do with is is datalog and nothing more. However, as for where to buy a cable get one from tactrix.com (where I got mine, and they manufacture the things).

However these cables are not cheap, and the going rate is over £100 (£120 + shipping from tactrix, and £175(!!!) from gb-ent.com (UK seller).

End of the day, the software is free, but effectively the Open Port cables have the "licence" for the software embedded into them, so you can't just make your own either, you need access to the FW built into the cable. So either bit the bullet and pay up, or don't. No 2 ways about it really, but to be fair, these guys spend LOTS of time making this stuff for use to use, so £100 or so is nothing in comparison to some.

evo 4 requires an evo5 or 6 ecu with 560cc injectors
This will allow you to read/log all ecu parameters and have a remap for better performance. But you will need a laptop with evoscan and an openport 2.0 tactrix cable.
Yes unfortunately its not as cheap as you think
