Idle Issues and pricing issues

Hello there. i'm new to this site and need lots of advice.

My friend has an evo fq300 in black which i will be buying in december, hence why i have joined this site.

first off alittle info about the car.

it needs discs and pads all round

mot and taxing

buffing

the rear spoiler needs respraying due to laquer issues

the boot where the spoiler joins needs repairing due to a massive rust scab

it needs a good clean and underseal due to being sat for nearly 2 years outside:(

and it idles funny

he wants 7k for the car. what is everyone elses opinion? i know they go for £1500 more than that. am i paying too much? or is this a fair price?

now as for the idle issue.

when its started it idles at 3000rpm. once it warms it drops to around 700rpm and then striaght back up to 3000rpm constantly. it dosen't cut out tho. i was thinking its an idle control valve problem? maybe it needs cleaning or needs a new one? maybe AFM??

that is basically it. hope someone can help and advise me.

:wtf:

What evo is it:confused: A 9 yes I would pay it an 8 depends on spec and a 7 not with the amount of work that needs doing:hm::)

Personaly with the money you would have to spend putting everything right as you would want it to look, you could get a higher spec 8 which by the sounds of it would have been looked after a bit more:(:)

I agree with Nick, personally I would not even look at it for that price.

Better examples of that model can be purchased for closer to that money if you are serious, have cash and barter hard!!!

:thinking::)Or that nice 7 Geof put up with a bit of bartering would work out around the same money and it's mint:)

so what sort of price to do you think its worth in its condition? i spos there is room for movement on the price.

i think its only starting to rust due to being sat for so long. its a real shame. would be good to save it from getting worse.

the guy who has the car had a major accident around 2 years ago. thats why it was sat in the garden. now he is better he fancied a change and bought an m400 noble. also he dosen't have the knowhow to repair the car himself and will not pay garage rates to get it sorted. i can do pretty much all the work myself. which will keep the cost down. but it will still cost abit to get sorted.

the car has only done 58k miles. and after a buff will look ten times better.

would i be taking the pee if i offered him 6k for it??

i apprecieate everyones replys. thanks :)

I say go for it. By the time you pay to sort out the brakes, bodywork, spoiler and mot you won't be far off a reasonable price. Also it will need a service.

Thanks chap. let the pricing commence. i'll keep you all posted on the final debate...lol

but as for the idle issue. does anyone have any ideas what it could be??

£6k would be a reasonable offer indeed!

The idle issues could be one of many things but will be relatively easy enough to cure.

Has the car been sat there for two years???

If so, the best place to start would be by draining the fuel tank completely and putting fresh fuel in!

Can you get a specialist to look at the issues as it may not be anything major :)
