HSD Coilovers

Anyone got any experience of these? Are they any good? What are peoples preferences? thinking of getting these or Tein coilovers. Had Tein on my P1 and loved them. Haven't got £2-3000 to spend but don't mind spending up to £1200 on the right bit of kit. Advice & recommendation most welcome.:hm:

ok, i sell HSD but i also sell Sachs, Ohlins, BC and Tein, as well as ran 99% of them on my various evos. you will get people saying they are terrible and some folk saying there great. just my ten pennies worth is that for what they are i.e sub £1000 budget coilovers they are great, there are a handful of owners who have had some issues with knocking but you will get exactly the same with tein and BC, there are a hell of a lot being used so you will inevitably get a hanful that have defects

The next step up in the sub £2000 bracket you just wont get a great deal of poor feedback, they will do the same job but ride quality will be a hell of a lot better, for these you looking at Sachs @ £1500 or KW @ £1500

although teins are just over £1000 for most types, i would put them in the sub £1000 category in terms of build and ride quality

we have sold around 7 sets of HSD and never had anything but happy customers

that's is exactly wht they are targeted for, give you the option to adjust ride height, change stiffness and will replace potentially tired bilsteins. you will see that they are not as harsh a ride as teins

With tein it depends which model you go for, My vii came with a set of tein super streets, wow, these are so smooth in the road and it don't skip about on the road like the type flex did.
Think this is mainly down to the fact there is so much more travel in the super streets so as close to stock as you can get

Had the super streets on my P1, loved them but according to Tein they don't do the super street for the 9.

Got a set on my X, excellent value, big upgrade over stock bilsteins/eibachs. Easy to fit and after playng with initial adjustments and geometry no knocks or squeaks. Almost 10,000 miles now

I agree with Martin, sub 2k you get what you pay for, for a road car pot holes and generally bad roads kill coilovers, Ive bought some D2s for my road car but I know they may last 3 years, they may last 3 months but they were cheap, new. Why not go the Bilstein route with some good lowering springs?

Just adding to what Martin said about HSDs, speaking to Gav from Rosssprt, the seven sets he`s said he sold four or five sets came back within six months, so I opted for the D2s as from his advice the quality has improved but they are a budget coilover still!

Only thing with teins has to be the common issue of rear top mounts cracking.
