How to register an import

Please can anyone help me? I recently won an evo 9 from a competition, when the car was delivered I only was given a nova form and a vin number. No registration details at all, I have filled out a v55 / v5 form and the dvla have rejected it twice as I have no details on when the car was registered. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
