Hi all,

I am completely new to the forum and as the title says I'm looking to join the club!

At the moment I am looking at the FQ300 but the Semi Auto version.

Just wanted to know if anyone on here has one and their thoughts on the Auto boxes? i.e. Is the drive still good fun? I do intend to find one to test drive as soon as possible.

The reason I am thinking of this rather than a manual is because my wife will drive the car from time to time. Also, my left knee isn't in the best condition.

Any thoughts or links to other appropriate threads will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers :)

First off it's not semi-auto, it has a full proper gearbox, only with electronically controlled clutches.

I'll post a link to my thoughts on it, but now I've had the car longer I'm going to update this, as it comes across slightly more negative than I'd like, I put too much emphasis on how crap the auto modes are (they still are, but you'll never be in auto when in attack mode) and very little emphasis on how good the manual mode is, but anyway, click here for my thoughts on it. I'm still in two minds tbh, the tactile selection of manual gears is still better than the sst, but other than that the sst is just better everywhere else. No turbo lag, smoother drive etc, plus when you just want to nip to Tesco you toss it in auto mode, turn up the surprisingly decent stereo and enjoy the ride :)

I've just read Aldy's SST report and his 'new' conclusion. I've had my 2011 Evo X 300 SST for 7 months. It had 3500 miles on the clock and now reads 9000.
It has proved to be terrific fun. You can go shopping in it quite happily and then go berserk, if you wish with, just some forward thinking. I tend to like the 'sequential' manual mode adding some paddle changes when necessary. It's a great toy! No mods yet as it's still under warranty until December.
In support of the SST 'box I have ordered an Alfa Romeo Sportiva Nav 1.4 turbo with TCT.(Primarily for my wife who will NOT drive the X). The TCT is not as clever as the X SST but I like the general system, now. It may seem crazy but I've NOT actually driven an Alfa TCT!
As regards the Fosgate/Rockford stereo system, this is the best ICE system I've ever had and I've ordered the uprated BOSE speaker system in the Alfa along with the Xenon lights, just to remind me of the X!
Hope that lot helps your decision!
