Thanks for the welcome and it seems as though the 9 is gonna have to be the weapon of choice...
Now just a couple more things to help me along...
Is it best to go for a standard motor and work from there with power gains etc or get one already with a few mods...
A few ideas on what to look out for and recommended upgrades would help me no end!
I'm a complete evo newbie and at the mo have a supra twin turbo with 450+ so my knowledge is pretty thin in regards to evos...

If I was you IDE buy a car from a club member rather than a random car of piston heads that no one knows the history of. There's another Evo site called Mitsubishi lancer register with a few nice Evo 9's for sale and low milage. So IDE be looking in buying one of those. You will find them in the cars for sale section. If you require any further help let us know. ;)

Once again thanks for all the ideas!
I'll keep ya all updated with any potential motors i have my eye on..
I had a nose on the MLR and there were a few tasty looking 9's but what is it with all of them being so god damn far away!!!!
Anyway i'm off to search and see what i can find..

I was just wondering if any of you know of any 9's (standard or modded) that are worth looking at from members here... Anywhere from say 13 to 15 grand max...
I've been nosing at classifieds but as mentioned earlier i'd rather buy and know the history of the car and not take the usual b.s from some dodgy dealer...

Thanks in advance for any help offered...

you could also look for an 8 MR as the MR has a few extras on it.

Where are you based? I notice you said none coming up locally.

I'd probably go for one with a few mods on it.

If your looking for 450bhp that will involve a few more mods including possibly the turbo.

You can get to 400 on original internals but after that these need upgrading.

So maybe worth holding back about 4-5kish for the upgrades

Thanks Invisible...
To be honest i'd be happy with a standardish motor.. Doing the upgrades would ideally be something i'd do down the line as i craved more bhp but i think initially i'd like to get as close to my budget and get the lowest mileage/newest year i could afford which would hopefully be a 320 or 340 evo 9...
I'm based in ipswich,suffolk by the way..

Not Many around you agreed but you may have to commit to travel.

Ive just had a look on Autotrader and theres a ix fq340, 2006, 38K on the clock for £12,500 with full mitsi serv history and out of all of them on Autotrader this looks like very well priced.

Downside is they in Wakefield about 150-160 miles from Ipswich!

Well worth a look if you can jump on a train though;

2006 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION IX 2.0 FQ340 UK CAR

Other reputable Evo dealer is in Stroud - Xtreme;
Xtreme UK for Mitsubishi

However thats probably about 200 miles/3hr drive away!

All I can say is be patient, done just buy the first one you see like I did!!! lol

Yeah i had already seen the adverts for these and the blue fq340 does indeed look very tempting.. I'm on holiday next week so i try and get a few miles under my belt and have a look...
I also have to say that i'm a bit wary of red due to the paint fading problem i've experienced with other red motors...
I'll be patient cos after reading through several threads on here i hear there are a lot of dodgy non cared for examples about..
Cheers invisible and if any others catch your eye let me know!!!!
