Iv been looking at buying an evo 5 from about an hour away from where I live. It looks pretty good but some things just dont add up. On doing a reg check on the car "R89 DKY" it comes up with a Mitsubishi box van. Iv done a HPI check on the car and comes up as a Mitsubishi FTO. I have asked the dealer for picture of the v5 and shows

Make: Mitsubishi
Model: (blank)
Body type : box van

Its a fresh import and just curious if anyone else on here has had a problem like this before and any advice is welcome

Well the imports often don't come up with the correct car but surely it shouldn't come up as a van

It's been registered incorrectly as long as all other particulars are correct it can soon be amended with DVLA.

My mate bought a GTO over 10 years ago and the vin number they had on logbook was incorrect but having looked through old MOT's it showed the correct vin as found on car he contacted DVLA and provided proof and they altered the registered vin and sent a replacement log book.

The hip check came back as an fto and that also gave me the engine number and the last 4 digets of the vin number. They matched what was printed on the picture pf the v5 he sent me. Your probably right with it being registered wrong.would it cause any.problems with me trying to insure it. When I look up quotes it says its an FTO. Could I just correct the insurance company or would I have to amend the v5 and dvla first

You would need to correct the V5 but if it's a dealer tell him either correct the V5 or I don't buy it or you go for it cheaper and play on the fact you have the agro of altering it. DVLA may also want to see the vehicle so bear in mind if you don't have a local office.

Hi,
If you need any help with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line. We have the option to manually input the correct vehicle details on our system so should be able to offer a quotation if needed.
Regards,
Dan.
