Hi,

My name is Andrew and I'm from North Lincolnshire.

I've always dreamed of owning an Evo with the V always being my favourite for its aggressive looks, and the fact that I've only ever seen three V's in my whole life :ninja:

So with a bit of help from my dad (I'm only a delivery driver so lord help me should something serious happen!) I started looking about 2 months ago with 2 things to stick by 1. It had to be in white with the least amount of miles as possible 2. As close to standard as possible. Exceptions being wheels, suspension exhaust & filter etc.

So I found this one from SVA after ringing around a few places and instantly fell in love. 55000kms on the clock, and completely standard apart from the BBS wheels, Apexi exhaust, not sure what coilovers and an HKS mushroom filter.

Here she is the day i picked it up.

But after the long drive back from Dover to Lincoln (I've another 40 mins to go but stopped for toilet and fuel) after getting off the motorways onto A roads I got the dreaded donkey noise

This only happened after longish drives and when the car had a good run, but the light never once came on and did its correct check on startup. I drove it around for a few weeks wondering what to do as I didn't fancy the long trip back down to Dover to get it done under warranty. So I took it to Nunns in Grimsby for an AYC and diff service. £250 later and nearly a full tank of V-power as they was driving it around getting the ass the squeal it still made the noise :meh:

They told me the pump was working as it should and they couldn't understand it. All fluids looked clean and fresh so I drove away worrying about a new pump..

A few weeks past and it hit me, its not made the donkey noise for a while so I don't know if the pumps packed in for good or its just sorted itself out lol

But that was soon to be the last of my worries after I did a quick one-off 0-60 sprint on a back road and just got a big load of clutch slip :wtf: Ooops, then I see all the posts on various forums about launching so lesson learned on that one

I nursed it around to and from work for about a week as it only slipped when the boost kicked in so just kept it off boost. I told SVA but they told me that clutches were not covered so I knew it was going to cost me.

I bought an Exedy OEM clutch kit for £180 and booked it in at my local garage which is run by a few good friends. They quoted £200 - £250 to fit it (two other specialist garages quoted around £800+ plus VAT for clutch and fitting!). I knew it was a big, time consuming job and despite me being slightly concerned about them doing it I dropped it off on a Wednesday morning and said take your time as long as its done by the weekend as that's when works van was going back.

I received a phone call around 3pm the following day saying it was done  I asked for the damage and was expecting a lot more then my quote but I was very happy the hear I owed £260 :awesome:

Despite a few early hiccups, which i expected but not quite so soon, I really love the car and I'm always looking for excuses to drive it. I'm currently debating on a decat, but I want a bit more noise but nothing that's going to upset people especially if it's early or late at night!

As well as my car, I love gaming on PS3 and 4, I've just bought an N64 and Goldeneye as I never did own one and wanted a blast from the past after recently watching the film. Love watching films and Blurays, drinking at the weekends (slowly beginning to feel it too much these days lol). I was into off road biking (motocross and enduro/trails but slowly getting to old to be getting hurt. I'm a single father to an awesome 14 year old as well. Oh and I've just got into RC Drifting and have an MST ready to run Silvia S15. I want an Evo V shell but they are non existent anymore.

So thanks for reading and here's a couple more recent photos for you. Hope you like it as much as I do

Thanks :)

I'm from a little town called Barton not far from Scun_thorpe where I work :)

I've seen a few people that are fairly close when browsing so hopefully get to meet and know some of you.

I did a few track days at Blyton several years back. One in an Escort Cossie, one in a Subaru the off road in a Golf.

I'd be too worried of something breaking on my Evo lol.

Hi and welcome along buddy!

With the donkey noise and the clutch out of the way now, except for the timing belt to be done some time in the future, I think you're well out of the woods.

Pleasant motoring!!!

Im from Belton not far at all.

You wont break anything they're tough cars if looked after.

Chat to Si Norton too, your car will definitely need a remap if its a fresh import. He does all the mapping on my car and it goes like stink!

Thanks guys :)

I thought SVA remapped them for the fuel we have over here or is that a completely different thing?

As I'm thinking about de-catting it I was thinking it would need doing after that. But otherwise I'm quite happy with how it runs and performs and want the reliability over performance

Not sure on that one? I'd presume that's in writing somewhere with your receipts from them?

Si will map it perfectly safe mate, just to what you want. Don't be afraid to ask him stuff :D

I've never heard that about SVA mapping the cars to lesser RON before, but I haven't spoken to them in a long time.....

If you're going to decat the system then you might as well just wait until you're ready.

Ensure that you're filling up with VPower or Momentum.

Very different to standard car mapping you will see for modern diesels, they work from generic maps downloaded into the ecu.

Like I've said get intouch with Simon Norton you can private message him on here, he will set the car up just how you like it. Just click on his name in the top left of the box where he has posted and a little drop down thing will appear.

With our cars a remap is almost a preventative mod as it will ensure the car is fueling properly etc with the grade of fuels we have available.

Just use the search on here and you'll find loads of threads.
