Hello everyone :)

Ive just signed up to this today, I'm hoping to get my first Evo this saturday as i got the money for it yesterday, i currently own a Nissan 200SX which has been a very good car to me for 5 years and I'm changing because i think its a better choice, as I'm hoping to use this car all year round, i hope people on here can set my mind at ease with this as I'm a little worried of reliability but I've read that they are as real liable as any other car.

Please give me some pointers on what to look out for when buying and also your views on using one of these as a daily car. I know some people will think its mad but they thought that with the 200SX and its been a good reliable car other than when it snows :p

Hope to speak and meet some of you soon :)

welcome nothing wrong with using an evo as a daily just the fuel bill !!!
reliable as anything else on the road if left standard or set up properly unreliability is a bit of a myth tbh

Thanks for your replies.

I'm looking at getting a Evo VIII FQ340 MR, Thats really good to hear about the reliability side and i know about the fuel bill as my current Nissan isn't that good on fuel but i know this, it was just the reliability side I'm worried on, just glad you've said that as I've always looked after my cars and serviced them regularly.

Can any of you give me any tips on what to look out for when going to look at it on Saturday? I've run all the Hpi checks etc and its all clean and good so its just looking at the car, any little things to look out for??

Thanks Chris

general stuff as when buying any performance car .general attitude of the seller is a good indication does he always warms it up first
reciepts for servicing or service parts. disc n pads in good fettle, if not hes running it on a shoestring
tyres are they all the same make and quality brand
some 8's are suffering with rust check underneath
mechanically engines are robust .ayc problems are quite common

Thanks for all your help, i am now a proud owner of a Evo 9 in metallic blue, its got full history and the mileage is 48k, its in gorgeous condition as its been kept indoors for a while. I'm using the car as a everyday as i PX my Nissan. Feel quite bad at the moment tho as the weather is awful and its getting covered in salt. Is there anything on these to look for or are the nine's quite solid?

Hope you all like and I'm very happy with the car, got one thing I'm worried about which is the cam belt as there wasn't a receipt for it being done and i know they are due on 45k, just wanted to ask which belts would be ok for the car as i found these gates ones, would these be fine? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330685833995?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Also i've noticed the AYC Fluid in the boot is just below the Low mark on the bottle, i was going to put some more in but would it need bleeding if i just top it up?

Thanks for any help on these things and once again nice to meet you all :D

Thanks guys and i know the weather is horrible but it will defiantly be cleaned every weekend underneath.

Quick question on timing belt, what do you guys use genuine mitsubishi ones or i found the HKS fine tune belt?? Which one is better? I see the HKS one has a longer life etc. Any help on this??

Also what oil do you use??

Cheers Chris

Welcome matey, lovely looking evo, which spec is it? I worry all the time about mine getting crappy in this weather but i think stuff it whats the point in having one if u aint gonna drive all year round, they are rally reps for the road!!! My old scoob forum i used tobe on loads of the guys would garage their cars all winter for mths, some upto 6mths!! Tobe honest though i would wrap my in bubblewrap if i could get away with it!! Just enjoy her!
