Without sounding like i'm echoing next door, but i'm pretty sure thats not a 5 speed now, its got the shifter mech of a 6 speed on top... oh yeh, and i can see the fins

as steve220 said the general feeling over the road is that

many differences but the gear slector on top the box is differentand the mount as well, easy way to tell.

yeah it has fins cheers for help i am looking to getting anew box just been told 1000 to 1500 to repair it if its a 6 speed and missing it thanks again for all help

sorry if this is a stupid question what gearbox will fit could i go for a e5 e6 box or does it have to be a e8 box cheers

It can be an E5/6 box, but you wont be able to fit a 6 speed clutch to it or use your shifter cables. You'll need the gearstick base too. Expensive to retro fit.

Just had a mate who repairs boxes tell me there is no gate for 6th its not in the box there's only 5 gears so any ideas

Its a 6 speed case with a 5 speed gear set in it

thats what i am thinking but top speed is poor 120 but it does get there fast so i not sure prob fit it back in and run it if it breaks i will change to a 6 speed cheers

Just had a chat with a previous owner and he said the most he got from car was 130 which changes things now reading the web and could it be a rs box or gearset
