EvoScan and cable

Ok - I'm about to get my AYC pump back for my Evo 8. I have seen that the EvoScan software (which can bleed the system for me) is relatively cheap ($25 or something) but on their website a USB 1.3U cable is over $100 or soemthing - very expensive.

What I would like to know, is what is so special with this cable? I have a Generic USB OBDII cable, what's wrong with me using this cable? what's the difference? Can anyone answer me this?

Cheers!

It's evoscan program that activates the ayc solenoid. Not the cable. But you need the matching cable because evoscan is designed to work with that only. Not other cables...
You can bleed without the cable.
Top up fluid.
Drive it with full lock left and right till light comes on again.
Repeat...
Or if you have access to a post lift. Lift car so wheels of floor. Get it running in gear. Locate the solenoid under bonnet then supply 12v power to activate. Full lock left/right. Repeat steps above.

I've heard people say that this isn't a great method to use so personally would prefer not to use this 'manual' method.

So basically they've designed the software and a cable to be paired together. So although I have a cable that reads data from the ECU this will categorically not work with EvoScan?
