Here's the deal guys! ...... I'm from trinidad and tobago..... (little island in the caribbean) .....
i imported, a masterpiece.... a Ralliart Evolution IX Wagon (Automatic)
i'm having a serious problem that no -one here can seem to solve.
as you all may know this wagon shares almost everything from the evolution IX sedan ASIDE from the Mivec capability (the manual wagon, the MR, comes with mivec, Auto doesnt)
anyway, ... . .problem is......
seems as tho the car is dumping too much fuel. BTW the car is completely stock, however, the speed cut has been removed. the car smokes black a whole lot on idle speed, and when i press out, an it gears down theres also alot of smoke... like alot, its like a diesel evo9 ....
i've tried, airflow sensor, checked all vacuum lines, checked for boost leaks, removed the catalyst converter or whatever they call it. also, if i get of gas quickly, the rpm would drop, sometimes the car would even stall.....
i've tried it all, even the idle control something.. there's no check light on either. it hurts me deeply to know i have one of 2500 evo9 wagons in the world and it doesnt work well.
all help would be greatly appreciated. ASAP! thanks ppl ..

Have you checked the lambda sensor is working although that would not explain the smoke on boost just at idle.

Does the car still drive ok but just smokey ?

Errr

Sorry mate lost on this one, the smoking seems strange unless there is more than one problem

has it just started doing it or has it been like that since you bought it?

ecu definitely not mapped?

definitely standard injectors?

standard fuel pressure reg?

Get the AFR's checked and see what it's doing, it does sound like a split or loose boost pipe though.

Check the intercooler and all surrounding pipe work for cuts or loose jubilee clamps. These are know to cause thick black smoke.

Ya need to pressure test to make sure.

cant see it being a pipe leaking,

a pipe leak will cause overfueling/black smoke on boost but will cause to run lean on idle.

How often do you need to top up the engine oil and by how much (in miles/kms and litres?)

If using a lot of oil, sounds like a blown turbo may be the cause.
