Evo boost problems

Hey guys, my evo hasnt long came out garage with new engine fitted, when in it had brand new hallman boost controller fitted, now it was set low for running in purposes and still to be setup but my gauge is now readin high and i mean alot higher, ive been having a vibrating rattling coming from gauge but had this in my rs turbo so havent thought much of it, is it possible gauge is a goner and reading wrong? Was going to get another and try it to see, but thought i would pick your brains 1st, car does not feel any different as in overboosting etc but i havent been gunning it as running in clutch etc thanks for your help.

First port of call will be to check that the gauge is actually gauging correctly and that it is piped up the right way too.

How do i work out if it gauging correctly? Its piped up correctly, was working fine only yesterday its started reading high and has stopped this vibrating noise

Get another Gauge on there and test it buddy. Would be ideal if you could borrow a friends.

If the build is fresh, then you obviously want to be running the engine in off boost for the next 1000 miles. This means zero boost for the duration, or, tiny flutters if you are a pro / the one that has built the engine.

My advice is to remove the boost controller and revert back to stock for now and then see how it goes once the engine is relatively worn in.

The only way to check if the gauge is gauging correctly (if it has been piped up correctly according to you) will be to swap over to one that is known to have zero issues by borrowing a friends etc. If you do that, you will have to run the car on boost to work out where the fault lies.

At this stage, that could cause problems with the engine so leave well alone for now IMO....

Also sounds like you need to get it to someone in the know, like a good mapper/tuner to get it set up properly.

Must be doing your head in knowing it's not running how it should.

Well that's a different kettle of fish altogether then.

See if someone you know can loan you one and then see how it goes from there.

Its getting done next couple of weeks i only had car back to put some miles on to bed in clutch before mapping, being taking it easy and seen this issue with gauge just thought id make sure so i dont do damage, will get a gauge if that fails to help i will not drive it until its getting mapped and my tuner can look into it, thanks for your help will update after i get a gauge
